Doing away with distractions on my daily work

Planning our days for productivity varies widely among individuals. Some opt for strict time management, allocating specific time slots for each activity throughout the day. Others take a more relaxed approach, allowing the day to unfold naturally, believing that we lack control over how the day unfolds. They hold the belief that if the day is meant to be productive, it will be, regardless of meticulous planning.

Both perspectives have their merits. Those who adhere to strict time management believe that structure and discipline are key to achieving goals efficiently. On the other hand, proponents of the relaxed approach argue that flexibility allows for adaptability to unexpected events and opportunities that may arise during the day. In all these, the effectiveness of our day's outcome depends on our personal preference and beliefs.

For me, I pay great attention to how I plan my day, and my seriousness depends on the kind of workload I have. There are days when I need to do more, and there are days when I just want to do less and have more fun.

How do I work with my day to make it a very productive one?

I freeze my social media apps, and sometimes I delete them;

On days when I have heavy workloads to attend to, and I will be using my phone, I freeze all my go-to social apps such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, and Instagram to avoid being tempted and distracted by them while working.

I'm someone who is easily distracted by notifications from those apps. I belong to many groups and have many contacts, so my notifications are never-ending. Once I see them, it becomes difficult to ignore them. Checking into these apps just to respond to a message or check an update can take hours before I come out.

I know some of you may say this doesn't work for you, but for me, it's very challenging. I don't give that kind of temptation a chance at all. Those of you who can control your time on social media deserve applause.

Although there are other distractions that may come into play, when I'm working on my screen or on a normal task but my phone is nearby, social media is always my stumbling block. It has the capacity to distract me in both aware and unaware ways.

It's not like I do this for the whole day, no, I only apply this method whenever it's my work time which is usually at day time and whenever I'm done with the task, I unfreeze them and go back to my normal life.

Most times even when the apps are frozen, I still get tempted to login from the freeze app to check one or two info's... this makes me to go on with deleting the apps completely. This lifestyle turned me to almost an everyday user of the playstore app to download and replace the deleted apps. Hehehe 😅

Thanks!

I agree to letting the day unfold gradually because sometimes we lost control if we are over eager.

Productivity comes in different ways, especially with time management. I will literally focus on the most important through the scale of preference.

Thanks for the share @cypher09 .
Happy new month.

Your idea of using the day as it unfolds sounds quite well, but most times, not planning it would make the day unproductive or unless you just decide to be lazy on such day.

Thank you!

Truly right @cypher09 . I take it one step at a time because some plans sometimes don’t work out due to unforeseen circumstances.

Enjoy your evening.

The way I hate being in so many groups
I’m actually surprised as to how you are in so many groups
For me more than one notification from one same group and I’m already out
