DIRT 5 is the my favorite next-gen racing game
My mind is officially blown 🤯
I have been so excited to share my experience with DIRT 5 ever since I started playing it last week. I was lucky enough to receive a digital copy of this game for free with my PS Plus membership. If you are a PlayStation gamer (PS4 or PS5), then you too can still claim this game. You can also visit this post for a list of the other games that are available for free during the month of January 2022.
Now let's talk DIRT 5. I had some high hopes for this game, but even that was not enough to prepare me for how blown away I was about to be by this one. I somehow managed to avoid purchasing this game when it came out on November 6, 2021. The release was just in time to launch with the next-gen systems. As fun as it looked, I had way too many other games at the time to spend more money on this one. I'm glad that I waited since I at last am able to claim this one for free. What a deal that is, this game is 100% worth every bit of $60.
Although DIRT 5 is available on both next-gen and last-gen systems, it is best experienced on a PS5. One reason is the 120 FPS option, which can also be had with Xbox One X and PC. One major selling point is exclusive to PS5 and that is the DualSense controller with its haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. I can say without a doubt that DIRT 5 has my favorite implementation of the DualSense features of any game that I have played thus far.
Let me elaborate on why playing this one on PS5 is a must. There are all sorts of different terrains in DIRT 5. Snow, gravel, sand, ice, dirt/mud, all of which have dynamic weather to keep the tracks evolving throughout the races. You can feel a drastic difference in the vibrations of the controller when on each type of terrain. Plus when your car shifts gears you can feel the exhaust note in the controller. This really is something that you will not be able to fully comprehend until you have the controller in your hand and experience it yourself.
I could go on and on about how in love I am with DIRT 5, but I will let you see my true first impressions by watching today's video. You can hear it in my voice, I was shocked just how perfect this game is for me.
I will have plenty more DIRT 5 content coming this week and beyond. I will go into detail about every little thing that this game offers. For now, this is a brief intro and explanation as to why I firmly believe that DIRT 5 on PS5 is by far the most exhilarating racing video game out right now.

Dirt 2 was an awesome game that I played for free I think it was, a long time ago. It was a surprisingly awesome game for being free! I definitely agree with you that it was more than expected. Glad they've kept it up with 5!
I guess I forgot how much I loved those old DIRT games. Playing the original one when it launched in 2007 was a great expereience. I remember being so amazed at how the car would get dirtier the further you got into the race. The realistic damage was something new to me as well. Look how far we have come. All of that is normal in games now and yet DIRT 5 still found a way to blow my mind again. It just feels so realistic and there is so much going on at once... fireworks, confetti, mud splashing, cars zooming, music, beautiful landscapes, etc. I've been wow'd by this game for sure.
Nice gameplay! You can never go wrong with the stunning landscapes in this game, as well as all the cool cars 😊
Thank you! I finally have a new racing game that I can enjoy for a bit. I love DIRT 5 so damn much. I finished everything in Hot Wheels Unleashed and haven't had anything to drive cool cars in since then. I am also looking forward to Grid Legends and Gran Turismo 7. If I had an Xbox I'd be all over Forza Horizon 5.
Are you playing only from a console? Or you have a pc too? As you could always purchase FH5 on Steam as well.
I'm on PS5. I don't game on my iMac much since a lot of games are only compatible with Windows.
Oh, fair enough!
game looks awesome! and nice that u scored it for free. even the mud looks good. they always pull the handbrake in the movies when the want to drift and do some big turn or slide or like 180.. :)
Can't beat free! DIRT has pretty much perfected mud physics and realism at this point. I stupidly pulled the e-brake going around the corner in my first car. The saddest part is it was FWD, I had no clue what I was doing but like you said... I had seen it in movies, specifically Paul Walker in his eclipse, evo, and skyline. Tokyo Drift took things to a whole new level of sideways. The car I drive now doesn't even have a lever, it's just an electronic button/lever.
When it comes to professional drifting, an ebrake is very useful, but it is not required on every single turn. Get enough speed and have that ideal twist ahead and you can just tap the break and feather the gas.
nice. 🤙
Nice track you got there, and nice car too. I think this is more fun to play than Gran Turismo.
Isn't this game beautiful? I love it far more than Gran Turismo.
It is indeed beautiful. I like it more than Gran Turismo too.
The new GT game that is coming in a few months looks gorgeous too. It is the most realistic racing game that I've seen I believe. I am however more of a fan of the colors of a game like DIRT 5, it's pretty real too. I'm curious about GRID Legends, it is going to be a lot like DIRT 5.
If GRID Legends is going to be a lot like DIRT 5 then it will be worth it to try it.
Bro that shit looks smooth asf 😄.
Fuck man!!! You're tempting me to buy a PS5 one day I might cave in.
I'll kick it in PS4 for now. Wanted to see a video like this before I download it.
This is a must-play, especially since we got it for free this month. I'm sure it is still great on PS5, but the DualSense and 120 Hz really propels this to another level of awesome.
