Time to laugh and blow stuff up 🤣💥

Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard is the sequel to 2017's The Hitman's Bodyguard. If you somehow haven't watched the first one already, you totally should soon. It is not a requirement to see the original before the sequel, but the beginning of the second is much easier to understand if you watch them in order. dreaming of being the best again. Ryan Reynolds plays Michael Bryce, who starts Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard living the good life and accepting an award for the best bodyguard of the year. Sadly it is all a dream, if you've watched The Hitman's Bodyguard, then you will know why.

Michael Bryce lost his bodyguard license, despite being one of the best in the world at his job. This led him on a downward spiral of anxiety and depression. His struggles are so damn funny and you can't help but make fun of the guy. Maybe you remember Ryan Reynolds's 2005 role in Just Friends, where he was a pathetic loser dying to get his high school crush to like him. He is very much in that same role of having little to no hope here in the film this blog is about. All of this stress leads his therapist to encourage him to take a vacation to Capri, Italy. It wasn't long before his past caught up with him.

As soon as you think Michael Bryce is about to finally relax and enjoy some tranquility, chaos finds its way to his lap. Salma Hayek's excellently played character Sonia Kincaid shows up to retrieve Bryce for a mission to save her husband Darius Kincaid, played by none other than Samuel L. Jackson. Bryce has no choice but to accept his calling but refuses to hurt anybody.

Sonia is overly Hispanic and it will make you cry laughing how far they go to make her seem that way. She calls Bryce "Breece" the entire time and he never even takes the time to correct her since she is totally crazy like her husband.

Once they are able to free Darius, he is shocked to see it was Bryce who helped Sonia save him. He is immediately pissed because he considers Bryce to be one of the most annoying people on the planet. Darius makes it clear that he said "Get anybody but Bryce" and not "Get Bryce". Seems like a slight language barrier issue there between Darius and Sonia.

It is a good thing that the mistake occurred since Bryce, and the Kinkcaids is such an entertaining trio. Bryce hates both of them and Sonia for some reason loves Bryce as a friend since she thinks of him as the opposite of masculine. She is very capable of blowing up and Bryce and Darius are there to be the root of the explosion pretty much every single time.

As crazy as Darius and Sonia are, they just work so well together as a couple. They both are criminals and are capable of doing anything to continue down that path. As stupid as they may be sometimes, they are also geniuses when it comes to finding a way to make money and stay out of prison.

The absolute torment that Bryce is forced to endure thanks to the Kincaids never gets old. He gets beat up, hit by cars, nearly drowns, and all sorts of other things that would cause most other men to fall over and tap out. Even though Bryce doesn't want to work with the Kincaids, he really has no other option but to continue along with their crazy asses.

Eventually, Bryce finally wakes up from his depression and remembers how to be part of the action in more ways than just getting hurt and taking the abuse. Just when you almost forget that Ryan Reynolds is plenty capable of being a funny badass and not just some baby, he starts to show why he was one of the best bodyguards in the world.

It takes a while, but Bryce, Sonia, and Darius share some good times and smile together. You may start to think that it will all end happily ever after, but you would be a fool to believe that. Sonia is captured and then the goal becomes saving her, kind of how the film started with saving Darius. Bryce is yet again forced to work with Darius who he just doesn't get along well with 1 on 1.

I must hand it to the movie for keeping me guessing towards the end. I wasn't sure if Bryce's and Darius' worlds were going to collapse or finally go back to being amazing. The two have totally different tactics for how they wish to survive and do their jobs. Bryce is more defensive and hesitant to engage in conflict. While Darius of course is a foul-mouthed killer willing to do anything he must to live his life how he wants to. I will leave it to you to watch the movie and see how it all ends. Everything in between is well worth your time.

The Hitman's Bodyguard was a hilarious and action-packed film and Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard is more of the same. The first one deserved a sequel and I'm happy to see they not only did that but did it well. Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson are such a wild combo. Throwing in Salma Hayek to spice things up elevates the action and humor to an even better level of enjoyment than we got in the first film.

I can recommend pretty much any movie with Ryan Reynolds in it. The guy is stellar acting talent and is one of the best at bridging hilarious jokes with suave moments of kicking ass. I waited a while after Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard came out to watch it, but if you haven't watched it by now you need not wait any longer.

I'll go ahead and link the trailer for you. If my writing was enough to get your attention, then surely a few minutes of cinematic bravado will seal the deal.

It's been longer than I remember since the first one came out. The second came to me as a surprise, I do not keep up with film news that much. Ryan Reynolds is a legend ever since Van Wilder. I immediately looked up to the guy back then. Of course, he killed it in Waiting... as well. Both are sleeper comedies that these younger kids probably have never watched before.

The film had its enjoyable moments, that's for sure and it shouldn't be a surprise given the fact the 3 main cast members are extremely charismatic and talented. Nice flick to spend some time all relaxed without thinking too much.

I would have never predicted that these three actors would have fit so well together, but they certainly do.
