My barber did it again and lined me up for the rest of January

New Haircut Jan 2022.jpg

My first cut of 2022

I thought it to be a must for me to start this new year off looking my best. An ungroomed man is just about as bad as a car that never gets washed or a dog that never gets walked. Not much good comes from laziness. It had been just under a month since my last haircut, which I got just in time for Christmas with the family. I don't like to go any longer than a month without a trip to the barbershop since it tends to make me look more like a werewolf rather than a human being.

I trust my barber Mike to do what is best for the hair on my face and head. I've been going to him for well over a year now and I really like the dude. He's super chill and doesn't bombard me with the conversation, yet he is down to chat any time I feel talkative. He is always finished with me in under 20 minutes and I never have a problem getting in with him. Plus his chair is literally a block away from my place, so you really cannot bet the convenience.

I knew that it was about time to finally take some length off of my bushy beard. It was just getting so damn long and I was about fed up with all of the hair I had to comb every single day. I can't see myself ever rocking a babyface ever again, but I also don't have to have the longest beard on the block just to be satisfied with my reflection.

Even with an excellent barber like the one I go to, it is impossible to have my beard looking perfect. There are hundreds of thousands of hairs and there is always going to be a few hairs sticking out here and there. He does a fantastic job of shaping my beard and then afterward I go in a do a few finishing touches after I have had a chance to wash all of the loose hair off. Even after that, it's not going to look as perfect as a beard you may see in a video game or movie. That is just the way it is and I've accepted it.

My hairline has always been a bit further back thanks to my giant brain housed in my dome. Luckily, I still have a decent bit of hair left on my head. I have a feeling that I will be one of those bald men once I'm in my 40s, but I'm still on the edge of 30 and have quite a bit of time left with the hair that is still growing. My eyebrows are something that will never leave me though, these puppies are thick as can be. Luckily my barber realizes this and always trims them down so that they aren't overly bushy.

Leaving the barbershop feeling fresh and smelling like hair product is one of the best feelings. If you've always cut your own hair, then you just do not realize how relaxing and rewarding a professional haircut can be. I am thankful that I have found a location and person to keep me looking like a boss.

What do you think? This is where you tell me I'm ugly or beautiful. I'll take any comments that you throw at me. My favorite ones are the jokes that dig into a peculiar feature of mine. Don't be shy.

I feel like 2022 is going to be one of the greatest years of my life. Sure, I cannot predict what all is going to happen, but I can at least begin this year with the confidence to succeed. Having a dope haircut and well-manicured beard will no doubt assist in propelling me to great heights.

I appreciate that. I don't want overgrown and messy hair keeping me from being successful this year 😉

I haven’t been to a barber in many years, maybe I’ll go again one day but it feels great to get a nice cut!

I keep trying to grow a bit of a beard like that but get annoyed with it when it’s only like an inch long and end up shaving it all off hahaha

I used to just shave my own head down with a 1 guard every couple of weeks. Not anymore though. I enjoy the more precise look of a good haircut. Sharp lines, nice fade, etc. Plus it just feels good having somebody do this type of thing for you and just relaxing during it.

You and the beard sounds like my dad trying to grow one 😆

Looking good! I envy that you have a barber to go to every time. I had two that were just as good and both so awesome to talk to. I could sit down into the chair with both of them and they just knew what to do. Now they both quit and I haven't found someone I like and that I keep going back to yet. Such a shame.

I used to switch around and try all of the barbers at the shop. Then I got this guy like 3 times in a row and just felt like going to him only would be the best choice. He is my favorite of the bunch. Hopefully, you can find another good one son. I know I can't stand a shitty barber or one who is just really annoying.

I found you on 3speak when I was checking out a video linked here. I saw your thumbnail and thought you looked like network chuck from youtube.

I didn’t know who NetworkChuck was, had to look him up. He does look a lot like me, dark hair and beard. I didn’t watch any of his videos. I’ll have to view some of them and see if he acts like me too. Seems like he is really popular though, not sure how I haven’t heard of him before.

Anyways, glad you found me 😎

I adore Chuck. He puts out some great tech stuff and he teaches it to his daughters.

I really like reading your experience in the barbershop. A man also has to look good and care about it. Greetings

Awesome that you enjoyed this. I definitely like to stay looking my best as often as possible. I do care about myself, but not to the point where I would ever let myself become obsessed with my appearance.

Congratulations to Mike the barber. but I've been cutting my own hair for 3 years. I made some mistakes at first, but now I'm used to it. it's hard to find a barber like mike dude

Funny thing is, all of my favorite barbers throughout my life have been named Mike. I’ve known 3 excellent barbers named that.
If you’re able to do a pleasing haircut all on your own, great job! Mirrors just frustrate me and I don’t have a perfectly stead hand, it’s a no for me 🤣

Clean cut and trimmed. Love it.

I usually go two or three weeks at most before getting trimmed.

I think I'm going to let my beard get longer this year. Wanna try a new look.

Thanks my dude. I think you would look dope with a beard. You should definitely grow it out and see what happens. Hopefully wifey can deal with a beast 👹
