Una de las recomendaciones en que se hace más hincapié a la hora de emprender es que lo hagamos desde aquello que nos motiva, apasiona y en lo cual tenemos una base de conocimientos para potenciar y desarrollar todo lo que tenemos a nuestro favor. ¿Significa esto que no podemos emprender sin motivación, pasión y conocimientos? Claro que puedes emprender sin esos componentes, solo que el camino será más duro y lento.

Claro, cualquier razón que nos demos para emprender ya de por sí es una motivación, pero me refiero a ese gran impulso interior que hace que cada mañana te levantes con la ilusión y la convicción de que ese emprendimiento es tu ruta, que por allí es quieres transitar.

Imagina por un instante emprender porque alguien te propuso que lo apoyes en su idea y porque ves en ello una posibilidad real de ganarte un dinero que requieres. Son dos buenos motivos: ayudar a alguien y ganarte un dinero; sin embargo, resulta que ese hacer no es lo tuyo, no encuentras en él esa satisfacción interna que como un corrientazo te activa cada día para llevarlo adelante. Es probable que al poco tiempo comiences a sentir el vacío de la insatisfacción, la apatía que da el cansancio y en algún momento comprenderás que lo mejor es abandonar ese barco, con todo lo que eso puede significar.

De esto tengo una anécdota. Hace años una amiga, compañera de trabajo me propuso que montásemos un salón de belleza, ella no quería hacerlo sola y ninguna de las dos sabía nada de ese negocio. Así que nos preparamos, yo hice curso de Cosmiatria, peluquería, barbería y hasta de uñas, practicaba con afán y entusiasmo con todas las amigas y familiares que quisieran ponerse en mis manos, hasta que llegó el momento en que nos sentimos fortalecidas para montar y abrir el negocio.

Pronto comencé a preguntarme ¿Qué hacía yo allí?, sentía que languidecía en un hacer que no me llenaba, aunque me encantaba el ambiente que habíamos creado, el atender a los clientes y convertirme en confidente de ellos, la actividad que definía el emprendimiento no me llenaba y a
mi amiga tampoco. Al año decidimos cerrar y dedicarnos a lo que nos gustaba hacer: a ella, las ventas directas y a mí, el enseñar.

El enseñar ha sido mi motor interno desde siempre y aunque no sentía la vocación docente: profesores, familiares, orientadores y las pruebas vocacionales de tercero y quinto año indicaban que era por allí el camino, yo me resistía. Solo cuando comencé a trabajar “en serio”, como docente, sentí que era allí donde quería estar. Durante treinta y tres años fui docente activa en el nivel de educación básica y universitaria.

Ahora bien, enseñar y aprender es la manera en que concibo este hacer y es por ello que durante toda mi carrera docente me dedique a estudiar la mejor forma de enseñar, estar actualizada con las propuestas metodológicas, proporcionarle a mis alumnos el mejor conocimiento que yo pudiera darles siempre fue un objetivo claro.

Me esmeraba en acercarlos al conocimiento con cariño, de ofrecerles experiencias de aprendizaje significativo y que lograran disfrutar del aprender. Sus sonrisas, las chispas de sus ojos siempre fueron parte de esa motivación interna de querer dar más y mejor.

Hablo en pasado, sin embargo, ese es mi presente y vivo mi pasión por enseñar. Desde hace más de doce años me he dedicado a crear cursos, talleres, conversatorios, encuentros, de manera presencial, inicialmente y luego de manera online, donde el intercambio de saberes es el norte, porque como dijo, Robert Heinlein: “Cuando uno enseña, dos aprenden”.

Incluso acá en Hive, como creadora de contenido, en mis escritos y comentarios muchas veces, quizás con más frecuencia de la que soy consciente, se me sale el “tonito” de la maestra, de la profe que quiere dar una lección, entonces cuando releo trato de acomodarlo y utilizar un tono más suave, ja, ja, ja. Sin embargo, en ocasiones me digo: No te desdibujes, esa eres tú, esa es tu esencia: Enseñar, dar al otro aquello que vas descubriendo, reconstruyendo en la experiencia y que llamamos aprendizaje.

They are two good reasons: to help someone and to earn money, however it turns out that this is not your thing, you do not find in it that inner satisfaction that like a rush activates you every day to carry it forward. It is likely that after a while you will begin to feel the emptiness of dissatisfaction, the apathy that comes from tiredness and at some point you will understand that it is best to abandon that ship, with all that this may mean.

I have an anecdote about this. Years ago a friend of mine, a co-worker, suggested that we set up a beauty salon, she didn't want to do it alone and neither of us knew anything about the business. So we prepared ourselves, I took courses in cosmetology, hairdressing, barbering and even nails, I practiced with eagerness and enthusiasm with all my friends and family who wanted to put themselves in my hands, until the time came when we felt strengthened to set up and open the business.

Soon I began to wonder what I was doing there, I felt that I was languishing in a job that did not fulfill me, although I loved the atmosphere we had created, serving customers and becoming their confidant, the activity that defined the enterprise did not fill me and my friend either. After a year we decided to close and dedicate ourselves to what we liked to do: for her, direct sales and for me, teaching.

Teaching has always been my internal engine and although I did not feel the teaching vocation: teachers, family members, counselors and the vocational tests of third and fifth year indicated that this was the way to go, I resisted. Only when I started working "seriously", as a teacher, did I feel that this was where I wanted to be. For thirty-three years I was an active teacher at the elementary and university levels.

Now, teaching and learning is the way I conceive this work and that is why during my entire teaching career I dedicated myself to study the best way to teach, to be updated with the methodological proposals, to provide my students with the best knowledge I could give them was always a clear objective.

I strived to bring them closer to knowledge with affection, to offer them meaningful learning experiences and to make them enjoy learning. Their smiles, the sparks in their eyes were always part of that internal motivation of wanting to give more and better.

I speak in the past, however, this is my present and I live my passion for teaching. For more than twelve years I have dedicated myself to create courses, workshops, talks, meetings, in person, initially and then online, where the exchange of knowledge is the north, because as Robert Heinlein said: "When one teaches, two learn".

Even here in Hive, as a content creator, in my writings and comments many times, perhaps more often than I am aware of, I get the "little tone" of the teacher, of the teacher who wants to give a lesson, so when I reread I try to accommodate it and use a softer tone, ha, ha, ha, ha. However, sometimes I tell myself: Don't blur, that's you, that's your essence: Teaching, giving to others what you are discovering, reconstructing in the experience and that we call learning.
