Life through images [ENG/ESP]

In today's beautiful and turbulent world, images play a fundamental role. For many, they are a way to get closer to loved ones, share experiences, and create and maintain family ties.

Generally, images capture beautiful moments, moments of achievement and satisfaction, but they do not capture the processes, the individual and group efforts that make them possible. Let me tell you a little about this.

Over the weekend, I received videos from my son of the musical performances of my granddaughters who live in Spain. This year, when I was with them for three months, I saw how difficult it was for their parents to get them to practice every day, because the famous summer had them busy with other less demanding activities, so each practice session began with great resistance, sometimes scolding, and sometimes tears because they couldn't get the instrument to respond to their wishes.

The youngest, seven years old, decided last year to take up the clarinet. During practice, the girl would get frustrated every time she made a mistake. Getting her to focus was quite a process. I must admit that her mother has unique patience in accompanying them on the piano and that they finally managed to accomplish the task.

This Sunday she had her first performance as a soloist, and it was beautiful to see her playing in a video. My heart rejoices when I think about how far she has come and how motivated she will be after this performance.

The older one, twelve years old, has been playing the viola for several years. She is more sensitive when she makes a mistake. She gets frustrated, cries, and screams, so finding her center is very difficult for her. When she manages to calm down, she is able to complete the task.

It is easier with her dad because he accompanies her on the guitar with more contemporary pieces that she likes, such as the soundtracks of movies she has seen or current pop music. The truth is that in her performances at the music school at the end of this year, I felt she was more confident.

Another of my granddaughters lives here in Venezuela, but in a city that is too far away for us to go and see her, so we also receive videos of her performances. She is thirteen years old and her passion and talent lie in ballet. At her school, she has won first place, which makes her stand out in every performance.

I know she dedicates valuable time to her rehearsals, that she has acquired great commitment, and does not need to be pressured to rehearse consistently.

Watching the videos of each of them developing their talents gives me great satisfaction. My husband and I watch them together every time we receive them and talk about what they are doing, how they have evolved, and the discipline they have cultivated to make these advances possible.

Behind all this is the pride of a grandmother and mother because both children are dedicated to making it possible, and the girls have responded with effort and dedication to the development of their gifts.

En este bello y convulsionado mundo de hoy las imágenes juegan un papel fundamental, para muchos es la vía de acercarse a los seres queridos, compartir sus vivencias, crear y mantener los lazos familiares.

Por lo general, las imágenes recogen los momentos bellos, los de logro y complacencia que pueden generarnos, pero no recogen los procesos, esos esfuerzos individuales y grupales que lo hacen posible, les comento un poco sobre esto.

El fin de semana recibí videos que me envió mi hijo de las presentaciones musicales de mis nietas que viven en España, este año cuando estuve con ellas durante tres meses veía lo difícil que era para sus padres lograr que ensayaran diariamente, pues el famoso verano las tenían pendientes de otras actividades menos exigentes, por lo que cada ensayo comenzaba con gran resistencia a veces regaños y en ocasiones llantos por no lograr que el instrumento respondieran a sus deseos.

La menor, siete años, el año pasado se decidió por el clarinete, en sus prácticas la niña se frustraba cada vez que le salía “un pito”, lograr que se centrara era todo un proceso, debo reconocer que su mamá tiene una paciencia única para acompañarlas en el piano y que finalmente lograran cumplir la tarea.

Este domingo tuvo su primera presentación como solista y fue hermoso verla a través de un vídeo en su interpretación, el corazón se me alegra pensando en cómo ha avanzado y la fuerte motivación que le dará esta presentación.

La mayor, doce años, ya tiene varios años con la viola, es más susceptible cuando falla, se desespera, llora y grita, por lo que encontrar su centro se le dificulta mucho, cuando logra calmarse, completa la tarea.

Con su papá le resulta más fácil porque él la acompaña con la guitarra en piezas más actuales que a ella le gustan, como son los temas musicales de películas que ha visto o música pop del momento. Lo cierto es que en sus presentaciones de este fin de año en la escuela de música la sentí más confiada.

Otra de las nietas que vive acá en Venezuela, pero en una ciudad que nos queda distante como para ir a verla, pues también recibimos vídeos de sus presentaciones, tiene trece años y su pasión y talento van con el ballet, en su escuela se ha ganado un primer lugar que la hace destacarse en cada presentación.

Sé que dedica un tiempo valioso en sus ensayos, que ha adquirido gran compromiso y no requiere que la presionen para que ensaye con constancia.

Ver los vídeos de cada una en el desarrollo de sus talentos me da gran satisfacción, son momentos que mi esposo y yo, cada vez que nos llegan, los miramos juntos y conversamos de lo que hacen, de cómo han ido evolucionando y de la disciplina que han logrado cultivar para hacer posible estos avances.

Detrás de ello está el orgullo de abuela y madre porque los dos hijos se entregan con gran dedicación a hacerlo posible y las niñas han respondido con esfuerzo y dedicación al desarrollo de sus dones.
