| TBT Contest: One photo, one story, one of those Thursdays. Her flowers, her pride.

¡Hola apreciada comunidad TopFiveFamily!

Hello, dear TopFiveFamily community! I’m so happy to be joining the [TBT Contest: One Photo, One Story, One Thursday—September 30](https://peakd.com/hive -192096/@lanzjoseg/concurso-tbt-una-foto-una-historia-un-dia-de-esos-jueves-30-de-septiembre), to which @lanzjoseg so kindly invites us every TBT Thursday and where we share snippets of our life stories.
This is my mother-in-law; she’s had a lovely rose bush for a long time, and it’s her pride and joy. Let me tell you: when the rose is still in bud, the flower is white, and as it begins to open its petals, the colors change—showing various shades of yellow, ranging from cream to pale yellow—and the more it opens, the more it takes on pink hues. When it’s fully open, you see this absolutely gorgeous pink color. She takes great pride in having this rose bush, and I have photos of every stage as the flower blooms, with her posing next to her beautiful roses.
And just as it is with that plant, so it is with her entire garden: when she comes back from a trip, she’s always worried that her plants might be neglected—that someone will give them just a little water and not let them dry out.
She lives in Caripe, a quintessentially mountainous and agricultural area with a spectacular climate that’s ideal for a wide variety of beautiful plants. And my mother-in-law, as a true Caripera, loves all those plants—to her, each one has its own charm. It’s a joy to watch and listen to her when one of her beloved little plants is starting to wither—she fights for them and talks to them to lift their spirits, and believe it or not, the plant often recovers.
She has, as they say, a green thumb; that’s why her garden is full of them, ranging from fruit trees to little flowering plants. I, on the other hand, have a terrible touch with plants. Many times she’s brought me peppermint—I love that little plant; it’s so lush and gives off an amazing scent—but when it gets into my hands, it dries out and dies. It’s true that we come into this life with a talent; hers is with plants. God bless her hands.
