Greetings my dear friends of this beautiful sewing community 💕 as usual today I bring you a new model that I made this week of a shirt for a Doctor, in my last post I showed how I made a jumpsuit for a Doctor but as such it is a set that I had to make her, today I bring you the step by step of how I made the shirt.

  • Hilo morado.
  • Alfileres.
  • Tiza.
  • Cinta métrica.
  • Máquinas de coser Zig zag y overlock.

The materials I used for the realization of this garment were the following:

  • 1 meter of printed anti-fluid fabric.
  • 1 old shirt to use as a pattern.
  • Purple thread.
  • Pins.
  • Chalk.
  • Tape measure.
  • Zig zag and overlock sewing machines.

The first thing I did was to fold my fabric and on top of it I placed the pattern of my old shirt in size S, I placed it on top taking out the fourth part and marked it with the chalk and cut, that same pattern which was the front part I placed it back on the folded fabric and took out the back part, I already had the two tops of the shirt cut.

In the next image with the rest of the fabric I had left I folded it again and at that moment what I marked with the chalk was a sleeve and cut it, already having a sleeve I folded my fabric again and used that same pattern to cut the second sleeve I was missing, when I finished the part with the sleeves I started with the pockets.

I made three squares, two squares of 20 wide x 25 centimeters long and one of 15 wide by 17 centimeters long, to each of them I made a strip of the same width by 5 cm long with green fabric that I had left over from the jumpsuit to combine the set.

Again I looked for the leftover fabric and on top of it I placed the collar of the front part of the shirt and marked its shape with the chalk, did the same with the collar of the back part and marked its shape, and when I drew its shapes I did it with a width of 6 cm and cut it so that the bias would be inside the shirt so that the seam of the collar would not be seen and so as not to hem it.

In this picture you can see how the bias binding that was going to be on the inside at the back was left.

I began to sew the pocket squares with the back side facing up, joining them with the 5 cm green strips that I had cut with the front side facing down, pinned them together and sewed them with a centimeter seam allowance.ñ

Then I turned the pocket squares with their seam facing upwards folding the green strip inwards making a 3 centimeters hem and I repeated it at the tip and at the end of the green color, just as you can see in the image.

The next thing I did was to join the bias binding of the collars to each shirt top face to face, pin and sew them 1 centimeter apart and overlock them.

The next step was to sew the collars all the way around the back collar and the front collar and sew the three pockets to the front of the shirt.

Having done all that, I placed the front and the back of the shirt face to face and sewed one centimeter apart at the shoulders to join the pieces together.

Finally, to make the sleeves easier, the first thing I do is to make 2 hems of 1 cm each for the hem, so that when I glue the sleeves to the shirt they are not twisted, and I also finish making the hem of the shirt with two hems of 1 cm.

And so was the beautiful Doctor shirt that I made for a friend of my mother in law, I hope she loves the set because I really put a lot of love, there you can see the finish of the collar and pockets that were very well done 😊.

You did an excellent job on this shirt you made for your doctor friend, and pocket are obvious evidence of the necessity of doctors to keep items.
