Hello and welcome to my page. I'm @daniky and here is my entry to the weekly featured content for week 9 edition 3. This post is in response to the question which states;

"There is no country in the world that does not suffer from this menace of bribery and corruption. So, tell us about how bad it has affected your country and what you think can be done to reduce it to the barest minimum."

Bribery and corruption had become a real critical issue in Nigeria and many countries of the world today that it's almost becoming a norm. From the grassroot to the top, bribery and corruption has taken deep root which in most cases, favours those in one position of power or the other. This runs across diverse works of life which include educational institutions, entertainment industries, information technologies, political settings, Non governmental organisations and many more. It has travelled through the nooks and crannies of diverse communities, state, capitals, countries, continents and the world at large.

Getting a good job now adays is becoming more difficult by the day as those having connections with renown politicians are mostly considered to be suitable for such a job opportunity compared to those who knows no body. Now in most key organisations, jobs is being bought. Becoming a paramilitary personnel now takes lots of exercise than the ethical norms. Corruption has become more upheld right from the executive, legislative and judiciary alms of government. Many lawyers now lie to make money in their pocket aside from the fact that they accepts bribe on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. Many Lecturers now accept bribes from students to pass their examination or make an handout compulsory for their selfish gain. In most cases, some even sleeps with their female or male students as a yardstick to pass their papers. Examination malpractices is on the high rise as many proprietors and principals of private high schools now help their candidates to pass their external examinations through examination malpractices by providing answers for the examining candidates all for the sake of showcasing themselves as the best examination center. Many people now operates on affidavit, falsifying their age, identity and many more all for the sake of one gain or the other, and in most cases, the tough situation of their country makes them opt for such an affidavit because most job nowadays may need a man or woman of 22years of age with a 20year working experience. Imagine the sort of country we find ourselves.

In most cases, the most qualified for a job is never considered because the recruiter's credential is less standard to that of the job applicant (all for the fear of someone taking over their position in the longrun). In some organisations, less qualified and less experienced applicants are mostly considered because the boss would rather employ candidates he can underpay without any objection. Many have sold their franchise for a morsel of bread 🍞 all to vote the wrong set of leaders in power. The electoral body becomes so biaise when it comes to vote counting and announcing the winner of an electionary campaign. The political leaders of my country are full of empty promises all for the sake of being enthroned in power and later, they fail to execute their proposed and promised responsibility. What more can one say as rhe whole situation is already in a total mess? Now the rate of inflation is on the high side as my local currency has grossly devaluated. Money embezzlement by most politicians is on the increase while money meant to be used for covid-19 treatments for those infected is diverted into private bags. Paliatives are destroyed by the day while many are on starvation, hunger and penury. Pls tell me, what sort pf government is this?

ADEQUATE MEASURES TO BE TAKEN TO REDUCE BRIBERY AND CORRUPTION TO ITS BEAREST MINIMUM

  1. Restructuring the country by allowing the Central Authority to exercise their power on the federal, state and local government as well.
  2. Installing community policing
  3. Citizen show exercise their franchise by voting for their right candidate and never accept any bribe to vote for the wrong political party
  4. There should be changes in the ministry of education if anyone managing the affairs of the this ministry is incompetent.
  5. We should learn how to appreciate our home made products and be contented
  6. Provision of Employment opportunities and shortlisting of competent applicants.
  7. Bad lecturers should be sacked
  8. CCTVs should be installed in all examination to curb examination malpractices
  9. Anyone caught collecting bribe for a corrupt measure should be brought to book. So, no one should be above the law (even the president/emperor)
  10. The tenure of presidential race should be regulated to 2years per tenure unlike the usually 4year tenure. This will prevent the longer period of sovereignty of a president on a nation and help reduce crime.

From my above content i hope you'll be able to see the level of bribery and corruption affecting my country and the way out of this menace. This is my entry to the weekly feature contest for week 9 edition 3. If you're new to this platform and intend to participate, kindly visit here for more update.

Whoever is directly controlling the V2K told me to kill myself.
They told me if I killed myself now it would save the lives of countless others.
Saying the longer I wait to kill myself the more people will suffer.

They are reckless and should have shown the proper media what they had before taking me hostage for 5 years. I know there are many in prison that dont deserve to be there because of this. Your stay in prison will not be fun @battleaxe and friends. People are going to want you dead when they find out what you did. I hope you die a slow painful death. You sick mother fuckers.

Its a terrorist act on American soil while some say its not real or Im a mental case. Many know its real. This is an ignored detrimental to humanity domestic and foreign threat. Ask informed soldiers in the American military what their oath is and tell them about the day you asked me why. Nobody has I guess. Maybe someone told ill informed soldiers they cant protect America from military leaders in control with ill intent. How do we protect locked up soldiers from telling the truth?

Bad lecturers should be sacked

Especially those corrupt ones who subject female students to immoral acts before giving them a score.

Amazing points you hit my friend.

You see a first-class graduate student toiling on the street while those who don't know anything are holding a great post in an office due to high connection.

Plenty of corruption everywhere...it is well oo

(Edited)

It is not becoming a norm, it is a norm already. Its quite saddening that one cannot get to a position you are eligible for or to without shaking some people's hands with money for recharge card!

The thing is that it should not be difficult to bring these corrupt officials to book, but the people who are supposed to do that are also benefitting from those corrupt practices, and so that is why we are still in this mess. But we will keep on hoping.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
