Monomad Challenge: Church of St. Anthony of Padua

Hello to all! As a great lover of architecture, I cannot pass by historical buildings. I recently visited the ancient city of Rogachev and noticed an abandoned red brick building. Coming closer to my gaze, a church appeared, which was surrounded by a high fence and was not completed. This building looked very old and it turned out that it has a very long and interesting history. I would like to introduce you to the neo-gothic monument of eastern europe. This is my entry for the #monomad challenge.

The church was heavily guarded. The building is a historical architectural structure and is protected by state law. The entrance to the territory of the church was closed, but I managed to talk to the one who is in charge of its security.

Plus I decided that this historic building would look great in black and white. After discarding all unnecessary, we can see the true beauty of ancient architecture.

It turns out that on this place in 1783 a wooden Catholic church was erected, bearing the name of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. However, over time, it was decided to rebuild and rename it.

In the early 1900s, a red brick church was erected on the same site. This is what you see in the photographs.

I learned the history of this amazing place and was stunned. After the construction, the church of St. Anthony of Padua did not exist for long. The Soviet government converted it into a grain storage room. In addition, during the Second World War, the building of the church was badly damaged. Only in 2003, work began on the restoration of the ancient Catholic building.

Unfortunately, the restoration of the church took a decade. Lack of funding and enthusiasm is likely to blame. Although in my opinion this place deserves a second life.

In my opinion, every Catholic church is unique for its numerous facade details. Although the Church of St. Anthony of Padua is in a dilapidated state, it has its own distinctive architectural features. For example, it is interesting that he had separate exits on the upper tiers. On the whole, its front entrance looks interesting. Especially in black and white.

Each element of the building deserves special attention and certainly deserves to be restored. The building is a rectangular shape with a width of about 9-10 meters. The entrance to the church is marked with a squat lancet portal.

High lancet doorways, architectural decor, artistic brickwork, a high basement and a gable roof - this is how this piece of architectural art can be characterized.

Despite the fact that I did not manage to get into the territory of the Church of St. Antinius, I was able to get an aesthetic pleasure from ancient architecture and history. Black and white reveals the architectural potential of this place and allows you to look at the building from a different angle of perception. I hope you managed to get a feel for the atmosphere of this historic place.
