Monomad Challenge: Church of the Immaculate Conception of Blessed Virgin Mary

Hello to all. As a big fan of historical architecture, I like to look at buildings from different angles. Historic Catholic churches look great in black and white, thanks to which the integrity of the architectural creation and every single detail succeeds. While in the city of Bobruisk, I managed to capture a unique monument of neo-Gothic architecture with an interesting and rich history. Meet the Church of the Immaculate Conception of Blessed Virgin Mary. This is my entry for the #monomad challenge.

At first glance, it may seem that the church building is too close to a residential building. But this is not an illusion, but an architectural symbiosis of two buildings. This is history related.

The Bobruisk church is more than 100 years old and according to one of the data, after the Bolsheviks came to power, the building was destroyed, and instead of the facade, it was decided to build a five-story building.

Many elements of the church have survived to this day. Most of all I like to watch the huge windows.

The back side of the building was also preserved in its original form. However, in order to prevent part of the church from collapsing, it was decided to attach a huge concrete beam that holds the facade from above.

In order for tourists to find an ancient church, signs have been installed on a part of the five-story front building.

The main and only entrance does not differ from the entrance to an ordinary office or residential building. However, if you come closer, you can find some church attributes.

Attending the Church of the Immaculate Conception of Blessed Virgin Mary gave me a double feeling. On the one hand, I saw an ancient historical place of worship, but on the other, its history turned out to be tragic for me.

However, there are rumors that the five-story building is planned to be demolished, and in its place to build an original majestic facade with a high tower.

I hope that the day will come when I will return to this place especially in order to see the Bobruisk church in its new appearance.
