A FRIEND FROM HIVE

Opeyemi is someone I met on this space. He was and is still a very good friend of mine but because there is a 50/50 percent chance he might see this, I'll try not to give him too much high praise.

How we first knew each other is still as fresh as daisy in my head. He had made a comment under a fellow hiver post where he made a reference to a book - one I had read.
I was excited I understood the reference, so I hit the 'send a friend request' button.

I was surprised when he accepted my request almost immediately. Maybe it was because I wasn't really expecting him to (talk about not expecting much). Anyway, the conversation started out smoothly. Dude asked me why I sent him a request, asked if I knew him from anywhere - a question I considered weird. I replied in the negative. I could bet he hardly receives friend requests.

On the course of our conversation, we got to know we had a lot of things in common; we shared same last names, we were from same state, he liked books and I liked books too, we both loved oldies, and we both stay up late. It was exciting for me tbh.

For someone who kept a low profile, he sure was too troublesome for my liking. He got on my toes multiple times, but because I have a kind heart, I keep letting him get away with it. I almost regretted sending that request.

Currently, I've known him for over two years now. It's surprising because It feels like we've know each other all our lives. It's more surprising how we've never even spoken to each other over the phone or planned any physical meet-up yet. Just exchanging voice messages and texts. But we both value our friendship

It's funny how from Mere hive users, we turned close friends. In all, I'm grateful to this platform for giving me the gift of friendship. I hope to meet more cute souls in the future.

This is what they call a pen friend. All the perks of a friendship, but the distance.
I hope you both get to meet each other soon.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
