With A Heavy Heart...

"fire in the sky"

For those people that don't follow my blog, I have recently spent some time in Cornwall, one of my favourite places in the entire world, so thought I would share some of the images I took while I was down there.

The weather however has been terrible, with rain, clouds and more rain, it was only towards the end of my holiday that things started to brighten up, but then this brought gale force winds, all that said though, I have still had a great time.

The above shot is just part of the beach at Perranporth, I shot this on the first night I was there, using a 13sec exposure, I wanted the sea to look a bit smoother.
They do get some massive waves at Perranporth and the sea can get very rough at times.

With a heavy heart though, this is the last time I'll be visiting Cornwall for a while, as I think it is getting too much for my parents as they are in their 70's now, the drive back alone took 8.5 hours, as we have to use the notorious M5 motorway, constantly stop start traffic, there's not really any other ways to Cornwall that I can work out.

The shots in this post was taken within a 5 minute walk from where I was staying, I hired a caravan on Perran Sands Holiday Park, and it is situated on the sand dunes, which are the largest dunes in Europe (if memory serves me correctly).
It's wonderful to stay on there and watch the end of another day, the sun setting over the atlantic, this is such a beautiful sight to behold.

I'm rather sad by typing this, but I'll take my parents (and my dogs) to somewhere a little bit closer next year, it will certainly be better than the travel times to Cornwall.

Cornwall is and will always be in my heart, I will miss you.

I really hope that you have enjoyed this post (especially the images) even though it's my farewell letter to Cornwall, all images shot using a Sony A7iii camera.

Thanks for reading,

All the best :-)

It is such a beautiful place, one of the reasons why I'm sad I'm not going back for a few years.

These shots are just mesmerizing, especially the first two, the details on the first and the colors on the second, WOW!

Did you capture these with a phone or an actual camera? I could manage to take some similar shots of this kind every now and then, but I'd have to retouch and color grade the pictures to make them shine. Maybe even correct them in a few areas, to make them shine and pop, come out more detailed, to also have better color scheme, a whole editing process that would make the pictures look more appealing.

But your pictures just look so natural, I really get my eyes off the second image.

Cornwall is beautiful. My wife and I nearly moved there 40 years ago but changed our minds for various reasons. I haven't been back since. It's one of those things we always said we would do but so far haven't. The 300 mile drive on bad roads is a bit off putting.

Those sunset pictures you've taken are stunning.

I would love to live in Cornwall, it certainly is a beautiful place, but yes, the 300 mile drive does get a bit long, especially with the horrible M5 stop start traffic, one of the reasons I'm not going for a few years. Thanks ever so much for your comments on my shots too, really appreciated :-)

Great shots, I hope you have more to share. I am also a big fan of Cornwall, just not when its rammed full of people.

Thanks ever so much, I didn't take too many shots this year due to the horrible weather, but I know what you mean when it's rammed, I always try to get down there either before the school holidays or just after to miss the majority of queues etc
