Welcome to "Well"

Well is a small village in the Netherlands, Limburg providence, municipality Bergen.
Even something as small as this lovely village can hold an incredible story. Nobody knows the exact founding, only the time itself, but it was first mentioned in the 13th century and in the Middle Ages get his name "Well". I have always wondered how these quaint villages or towns got their names. The factors are always different, in this case the village takes its name from the river Maas which lies next to it. A river I would soon call "the river of time". Along the banks of the river lie some of the most remarkable and history-filled villages. "Well" means a mooring place.

Kasteel Well

Kasteel Well is a 15th-century castle with a rich cultural and historical interest. Today's owner is Emersen College. Unfortunately it is currently closed to visitors and I didn't have a chance to explore inside, but even from the outside the castle reveals an incredibly beautiful landscape and of course angry security guard if you try to trespass.

St. Vituskerk

The current church on the site was built in 1956. In an attempt to preserve as much as possible of the original church, which had been destroyed, and her history, bricks and ruins from the old church, as well as the main altar, were used in the construction of the new church.

Let our children not grow up in a terrible world. Together we can make it better. It is our destiny to
suffer from the past, to long for the future, but to forget the present.
