fair point on freeze(), but DAI isn't much of an escape hatch when a big chunk of its backing has sat in USDC through the PSM. HBD feels like the cleaner hedge for Hive folks, would you count it?

Exactly, and that's precisely why the system is so fragile. Mentioning DAI shows the contrast for broader markets, but the PSM loop just proves how deep the centralized contagion goes.
For the Hive ecosystem, HBD is obviously the ultimate sovereign hedge. No corporate kill-switches, period.
