Around the Canadian Rockies in Colour and Black & White

I really had to struggle with which photo to lead with today. Did I make the right decision? I love them both, but the cloud formations in the first photo sealed the deal. These were taken on our half-day hiking trip to the Valley of the Five lakes, Jasper National Park, Alberta. What are you planning to do for your Summer vacation this year, any hiking in the plans?

The clouds sealed it for me! The first shot! I love the drama in the sky. The second had more interesting details, plus the winding path.
Of course, you always select the ones with interest, making it hard to select between them!
Hard it is, spent about 15 minutes waffling on which photo to lead with.
Landscape format and the layers of sky, distant mountains, and forest do work best for the top photo. I like the allure of the trail into the woods for the second, though. Have you any particular insight on trekking poles? I got a set with my new snowshoes, but I have not had a good opportunity to try out any of that kit yet.
I just started using trekking poles, and I wish I had started earlier on. They definitely make things easier on the knees. Everyone should use them.
I like the progression from wide to closer to close in! 😄
Thanks @old-guy-photos
At first glance I thought the first photo was right to lead with, but now I'm leaning towards that second photo. The winding path, the trees and the peak in the background. It has much more to it. Maybe it's just my urge to get out into the mountains to mine some gems. Awesome views.
Tough decision. Thanks for commenting.
