Bear Den?

DSC06175.jpeg

On the return portion of my hike into Jura Canyon, and as I was about to enter the final leg of the trip, I noticed a dark hole in the upper Canyon side. Hmmm, what could it be? So I zoomed in with the camera and took a few closer shots. I’m no expert on bears or wildlife, but it does look like it could be a bear den or a den for another kind of animal. Who knows. What do you think? It looks like it would also make a great spot for a couple of backpackers to overnight it, if not live there for awhile.

Quite interesting to see these caves. Have you encounter black or grizzly bears in your hikes? I understand that they are very aggressive.

No, I have not, fortunately. Have seen a few bears over the years from the car though.

Oh man that is a solid cave. If I saw that, half of me would want to go check it out while the other half would be screaming at me to get away from the home of a large territorial animal.

Did you get any closer or see any evidence of what was inside?

This one, I actually like the colour better!

No, it was too high up. But yeah, I did think about it for a minute.

If I was a bear, I'd cozy up in there for sure. If I was a backpacker, maybe not so much. I listened to a story about a guy who hiked to a remote cabin on a mountain only to discover in the middle of the night that the cabin had long since been taken over by foxes and they were like wtf is this human doing in our den??!!

Lol, yeah that would be a nightmare!

I think maybe it's best to use the zoom lens to get closer to the (possible) bear den than hiking up there yourself.

These black and white photos with all that texture produced by the rocks is something wonderful to see...

And, wow...That looks like a typical bear's den!...I highly recommend not looking around!...ha ha ha :))...Backpackers sleeping there, not a good idea!... ha ha ha :))
