Canadian Rockies in Colour & Black and White

(Edited)

A few more mountain pics from my tremendous hiking trip to Rae glacier. Accessible via Elbow lake, located down below. This part of the Canadian Rockies is not in Banff Park, nor is it in Jasper Park, but an area called Kananaskis country. Located to the east of Banff Park. The area known as Kananaskis or K-Country was first established in 1978. Named after a river that runs through the area, a Cree name. Once upon a time, one could access this area free of charge. Nowadays, the fee is $15 per day or a yearly pass can be purchased. I am pretty much at the point where a yearly pass makes the most sense, financially speaking. Well worth the fees, and I am certainly glad to pay it any old time.

The first photo when you look at them you don't have the impression that the mountain is high and then when you start to see the photos of the valley you realize with the fir trees that it is immensity. Could you tell me why there is so little vegetation? Except for the fir trees downstairs. We have the impression that its rocks have not seen the light for a very long time and that the vegetation has failed to take root. How high are its mountains?

Approximately 3,000 metres or so. This section, as you say has little vegetation. Why you ask, not sure I have an answer to that. Fairly typical as far as I know, but I am not an expert either. Thanks for dropping a comment!

The photos are really mind blowing and I am just trying to imagine the weather condition of these types of places

The weather at the time of these photos was about 18°C or so I’m guessing. Thanks.
