Canyon Hiking (or Walking?)

Canyon hiking, or should I just call it canyon walking? After all, there really isn’t any elevation gain to deal with. Aside from the rocky parts of the canyon floor, it’s more of a walk than a hike. Hiking usually involves elevation gain or loss, mostly. Now hiking shoes were definitely a must on this one, the odd sharp edged rock could certainly play havoc with a pair of runners. That being said, would you consider it a walk or a hike? What say you? Photos taken at Jura Canyon, Kananaskis country, Alberta.

Walking should be so much fun at this place and even an opportunity to have a connect with nature.

If the trail is flat and clear, then it's a walk! ;)...(At least it seems that way to me)... Awww... is it a magnificent landscape to walk without exerting yourself too much! ;)...It never ceases to amaze me how much exposed are the geological changes in those places which you walk (or hink)!... Fantastic!.. That slope of solid rock ending in a bed of crushed rocks, seem to speak of geological events which have been shaping the landscape in an intense way...

It was a wonderful walk through the canyon, did have to watch my step in areas, due to the mixture of small and larger rocks on the path.

Man I can almost hear the flowing water and breeze in the trees. It seems like I have already been on a hike.

I would definitely love to spend some time walking through this wonderland and might even remember to take pics!

Headed to Alberta next month so I will have to try and do my best Veks post afterward!

Headed to Calgary then we will see from there. Maybe Canmore or somewhere for a cottage (a cabin out there!) or camping trip. Most likely some good Weds Walk footage and maybe an epic adventure like yours.

These photos of Jura Canyon are stunning! The rocky terrain, the towering canyon walls, it's a visual feast. And I've got to say, your shots capture the raw beauty of Kananaskis country perfectly. The Sony A7R III is doing an impressive job.
