Mercury

IMG_20230820_144216_Original.jpeg

No, I’m not talking about the first smallest planet. But I am talking about one of Ford’s models called Mercury. It all began around 1938 when Edsel Ford decided to create a mid priced vehicle. The brand lasted until about 2010, as sales steadily declined over the years. Wouldn’t suprise me in the least if they decided to resurrect the brand soon. Watch for it! Photos taken at an outdoor Auto show, somewhere on the western Canadian Prairies.

Those front ends are just classic. Especially the first one, I don't see to many of those around these days, so definitely cool to see your shots featured here.

Nice! Those last two, is that an old Camaro engine?

Yeah I think so, the last one. The other is a 390, so a Ford on that one (may have been a Cougar).

It seems to me that Mercury would be an ideal nameplate to resurrect for Ford's EV lineup. Ford was always the everyday family brand, and Lincoln was for luxury, but Mercury always felt out-of-place as a midrange mark. But using it for technological showcases might make a real difference.

I get that. Yes, makes sense. Mercury would make a good name for an EV product.

Oh @daveks friend, I almost cried looking at that huge green Mercury with the hidden headlights... My uncle Marcos had one of them (his were white, not green like this one) and my cousins and I called that huge vehicle: "The Sacred Cow" ha ha ha :))... We did it as a joke, because my uncle would go to the car wash every 3 days and he would get furious if we dared to lean on his body... And eat sweets inside that car, could bring like consequence that my uncle Marcos left us lying in the streets even when we were children!... ha ha ha :)) This is an elegant and majestic vehicle worthy of admiration...

Beautiful photos as always! Thank you so much for sharing!

Lol, great story. These are some of the biggest and heaviest vehicles ever made. The ride though was heavenly! Don't make em like that anymore. I should buy one for the fun of it.

Oh yeah... His ride was so smooth, like riding on a big cloud! (So said my uncle, who also had a Toyota FJ40 which he called: "The thing that makes you pee blood")... Haaa haaa haaa :))... I remember it like it was yesterday!... Send the photos when you buy yours!... And don't wash it every 3 days! :))

Wow, these pictures are really cool.

I'm just starting to get interested in photography, but for now I don't think I have anything worthy of posting around here, when I've felt I've improved I'll bring something, sure not as good as yours but at least I'd like to try.
