“Picture Perfect”

(Edited)

I’m not sure if this is a perfect picture, but definitely a scene worthy of a snap or two, making it “Picture Pefect” or snap worthy you might say. It seems, everywhere I looked there was picture perfect scenery to behold. A photographer’s dream here at Elbow Lake! On this day the skies were in ”cooperation mode”, blessing me with mostly blue skies (you know how I love blue skies!). This hike to Elbow lake rates pretty high by my standards. I would give it about a 9/10. A very family friendly adventure, with little elevation gain, and taking only minutes not hours to get from the trailhead to the lake (45 minutes or so roughly).

All the shot's are really good but yeah that first one, the depth and layers are amazing and you got it once again. This place is amazing and I'd use up my entire memory card if I was there, haha.

Yeah, definitely. Speaking of memory cards, need to buy another! Thanks for looking @shoemanchu.

Perfect shots indeed, I love how you took the shot with the mountain sitting high above the tropical forest zone.

What a beautiful spot! I love those shorter hikes when you only have a few hours to burn. Today I think the colors win out, just so much green. I'm looking forward to spring/summer already to spend some time in the higher elevations, maybe even look for some gold while at it!

Nice, looking for gold the old fashioned way?

Stop and pan a little here and there! Some areas are better with detectors, this spring and summer detectors might be more help finding the big stuff since that torrential rain storm washed down a lot of big nuggets for sure. But the most relaxed way is to sit down and pan for awhile!

Wow, that would be a blast! I need to try it sometime. Wonder how much a detector might cost to buy?

Looking for gold there are many different detectors you can use at many different price points. My last detector purchase was a Garrett ATX but it wasn't cheap but it works wonders looking for small nuggets and I can even use in while wading in shallow water. This site has a little information about different detectors starting out.

I wouldn't jump right to the expensive models first until you have a feel for what you are doing. It also helps if you can find a local prospecting group because they'll know what works best around there and the best places to look. It's a lot of fun though and some days you can find a lot of gold!

Have you found any significant amounts or just tiny bits here and there?

I have found some good sized nuggets, I think the biggest I have found is 4 grams. Lots of other smaller nuggets from one to three grams. Lots and lots of fine gold gold, but that you only really find by panning. The detector is usually how I've found the bigger stuff.

A guy in California found this monster using a detector as well. I've never found anything that big, I can dream though! Once a week I'm posting about gold prospecting and sharing some of the nuggets I've found over the years.

Yes, they are very magical images... The first one has in its favour the great amount of elements exquisitely distributed between background and foreground, besides the central composition gives it great visual eloquence... The other ones of the path are apotheosic too!.... Great visual mangemente as usual @daveks friend!

We finally got the cute blue skies interspersed with smallie white clouds. Then the pathway in the midst of the 'fields', makes the landscape picture perfect.
