Portrait or Landscape?

I love taking pictures, mostly though I prefer landscape views as opposed to portrait views. Today I’m bucking the trend and leading with portrait view photos. This way I can show off the exquisite turquoise glacially fed lake a little better. Generally when photographing in portrait view, one can tend to squeeze more content into a photo. That being said, Portrait view or Landscape view, which do you prefer? Photos taken at the amazing Water Fowl lakes, Banff Park, Alberta.

I do use both portrait and landscape. I used landscape if I am capturing big or wider picture.

I use landscape for my photos and portrait for my YouTube Shorts. Do you create short videos ? I get over 200,000 views on my Youtube Shorts these days. And they are monetized now. It’s crazy.

Totally depends on the subject. In your first shot definitely portrait.

True that. Probably 95% of all my photos are landscape, but once in a while it has to be portrait view.

Seems to me, we basically see as humans more like landscape. However there are times, especially with tall subjects, that portrait is a must.

That being said, dont get me started about shooting video in portrait lol. Turn your phones 90 degrees people lol.

Yeah, I can’t figure out the portrait mode video people. Not everyone is cut out to be a “photographer” I guess..

I love both of your compositions but I prefer the landscapes in these samples.
I prefer more information on the left and right - and there is information, than the huge waterscape on the half of frame

I can’t disagree with that sentiment. Usually my preference is also landscape. Thanks @victorbz
