Reflecting on Dog Lake

The best part of this entire hike was capturing the various reflections off the lake! Fallen trees truly give off some of the best reflections, followed closely by lake waves. Then you think to yourself, when did this tree fall and what caused it to fall?! Could have been strong winds, maybe soil destabilization, natural decay or root damage, perhaps even insect infestations or possibly a lightning strike. Who knows, we may never find out. Thanks for stopping by.

I guess it's because of the strong winds and the instability of the soil. Those are beautiful photos. 👌

That's the kind of questions I also always have when I see a fallen tree... I wonder also why it's called dog lake

Always thought it was a weird name, not sure why it is called that.

Some of the pictures captures some really great angles. I wonder how you manage to capture some of them, I guess you've mastered the art over the years.

Just always pay attention to the best angles and views, but not every photo makes it to Hive.

The second image is truly spectacular, the wave looks extraordinary and also appears very neat.

Amazing how those giants fell, but the earth takes a toll on us all. Pines especially don't live forever, and lightning along with poor soil can lead to their demise. But they gave you some great picture opportunities and nice reflections!

Here in California there are trees over 2,000 years old out in the desert mountains. Just imagine a lifespan like that? In the next 200 years humans will overcome the curse of aging and living to 2,000 will be common, making life on Mars and other celestial locations not only possible but necessary. We were born too soon!

I hope you enjoyed your weekend and that your family is well!

You really think so? Have you heard of that guy Bryan Johnson who pours millions into “living forever”?

Will need to get over to California someday to explore the old forests.
