Last weekend we had the opportunity to go to the lake. Going to the lake is a popular pastime here on the western Canadian prairies. It gives you a chance to exit the city and go to the rural less populated areas. Out of the rat race and into the relaxation mode. Every once in awhile one needs to escape the city, and go to a vacation spot. Recharge the batteries. You know what I mean. If only I could retire now and get out of the circus. Be patient and eventually you will get there! How many years to go to retirement for you? Or are you retired already? (You lucky dog)

Breathe deep and let it go! I can easily fit relaxed mode into my itinerary. I love the color, but the textures are a real standout with the details!

Hi, @daveks ! Hope you had a great day!

I'll prefer the colored versions though and this is because it brings the pictures alive. That's a colorful lake there, I could almost feel the freshness of the serenity, it's always good to go away like you've said...

I like the first shot!

There are some pretty impressively large lakes near large population centers in Western Canada, too. Lake Winnipeg, for example. But I'm guessing you are much further west near the Rockies.

Yes, well just west of Manitoba and east of the Rockies at this lake. Thanks

Time to time I also have such thought when I am somewhere where I love to spend my time and who knows maybe the rest of my life. But there are many places that I love to visit and also many places where I want to retire when the time comes. Although I must admit it is a long time till then. In meantime I hoped to win in lottery but it did not work so that is maybe my fate to work till retirement and here it is till 67 years.

I love the house on the first picture, gorgeous :)

Yeah, retirement may be a long ways off, but one can always dream about no work and all play!

Here are my selections and thoughts to which version I prefer for each image:

  1. B&W (details jump out)
  2. Tie (the clouds look more vivid in color while the rest is better in B&W)
  3. B&W (the bears looks alive in this version)
4.Color (the amazing sky is lost in the B&W version)
  4. B&W (this one surprised me)

I'll be doing a post in your cool new community soon!

Question, are selective color edits on B&W photos allowed or only B&W? @daveks

Like a colour splash do you mean?

Thanks for the detailed comment. #5 did look better in black & white!

You're welcome! @daveks

Yes, inquiring if a color splash / selective color edit is allowed? I understand if it is not.

Put all three images in. That would be fine. Thanks!
