Sunwapta Canyon / Falls
(Edited)
What is the next best thing to Athabasca Falls? If you said Sunwapta Falls / Canyon, then you would be correct! Located about 20 minutes southward down the Icefields Parkway from Athabasca Falls, Jasper Park, Alberta. If you have the time, it is definitely a must do activity. Park the vehicle, and the Canyon and Falls are basically in front of you. No need to hike in or anything like that (although I would have loved that). Big photographic reward for little effort in my opinion! Now, if you want to go to the Lower Falls area (and I would highly recommend that), that does require about 30 minutes or so to hike down. You will be certainly glad you made the extra effort to go down. Fewer tourists and in my humble opinion, more photos ops too (right up my alley!).

Such beautiful landscape with amazing colors! That opening photo has the mountain pointing to God as to tell us something. I often think we have moved too far away from the nature where we belong. Thanks.
I think you are right. Let’s get back to God and nature.
Even looking at picture it is easy to imagine the power of waterfall. Seeing that snow covered peak of the mountain I can imagine how the temperature goes down the further up the mountain people hike. I wonder if in winter there is more snow all around the place and cliffs?
Definitely much more snow in wintertime! Thanks for stopping by.
