Weir Pelicans

This is where all the American Pelicans hang out, by this impressive weir. Erected in 1939, and built as a make work project from the depression era. They say the weir serves no real purpose actually. It does look cool though, and the pelicans seem to love it!

A little known fact is the weir was created to maintain a certain level of water at the water plant. This is way back in the day. Now it isn't needed anymore.

That is an expensive view if it is useless! The pelicans like it and it is lovely to look at!

I bet the pelicans do like it. Crazy that it would serve no purpose. Thanks my friend.

Yeah, no point now in even tearing it down.

Is this in Saskatoon? My hometown! I have caught a few fish near that weir but on the side.
