Desde que se estreno en el 2015 esta es una de las mejores primeras temporadas que he visto en mi vida. Creo que es importante resaltar eso ya que por ejemplo, la primera temporada de Peaky Blinders no sabía muy bien en qué dirección iba la serie pero se enseriaron en las temporadas posteriores -luego hare un post de esto-. Daredevil comienza fuerte y solo se pone mejor con cada episodio.
Since it premiered in 2015, this is one of the best first seasons I've ever seen. I think it is important to highlight that since, for example, the first season of Peaky Blinders did not know very well in which direction the series was going but they got serious in the later seasons -later I will make a post about this-. Daredevil starts out strong and only gets better with each episode.
Esta serie nos narra la historia de Matt Murdok, un hombre que bajo la luz del sol es un abogado ciego y trabaja para defender a las personas menos privilegiadas que más necesitan de su ayuda, aunque no tengan como pagar por sus servicios. Y por la noche es un vigilante enmascarado que defiende a los menos privilegiados que más necesitan de su ayuda, solo que no utiliza medios legales sino la fuerza bruta, con la que pretende hacer de su ciudad, HellsKitchen, un mejor lugar.
This series tells us the story of Matt Murdok, a man who in the sunlight is a blind lawyer and works to defend the less privileged people who most need his help, even if they cannot pay for his services. And at night he's a masked vigilante who defends the underprivileged who most need his help, only he doesn't use legal means but brute force, with which he intends to make his city, HellsKitchen, a best place.
Y aunque su trabajo como vigilante nocturno es un trabajo solitario, en su despacho de abogado tiene a su mejor amigo Foggy -con quien se graduó de la escuela de derecho sumacunlaude como su asociado- y a la joven Karen Page como una recepcionista demasiado inteligente para su propio bien. Estos personajes son super importantes para el desarrollo de la trama y ambos tienen grandes momentos en pantalla. Esto está genial dado que a veces los escritores no saben aprovechar muy bien a los personajes secundarios, pero este no es el caso. A parte de ellos tenemos a Rosario Dawson como una enfermera que ayuda ocasionalmente a nuestro Vigilante en cuestión, a Peter McRobbie como el cura con el que murduck cuestiona ética y moralmente el camino que eligió como super heroe y por ultimo uno de mis personajes favoritos de toda esta serie -incluidas las temporadas posteriores- Vincent D'onofrio como Kingpin, el gran antagonista de esta temporada y cuestionablemente el mejor villano en toda la saga de "Los Defenders".
And while his job as a night watchman is a lonely job, at his law office he has his best friend Foggy - with whom he graduated from sumacunlaude law school as his associate - and young Karen Page as a receptionist too smart for her. own good. These characters are super important for the development of the plot and both have great moments on screen. This is great since sometimes the writers don't know how to take advantage of secondary characters very well, but this is not the case. Apart from them we have Rosario Dawson as a nurse who occasionally helps our Vigilante in question, Peter McRobbie as the priest with whom Murduck questions ethically and morally the path he chose as a superhero and finally one of my favorite characters from This entire series -including subsequent seasons- Vincent D'onofrio as Kingpin, the great antagonist of this season and arguably the best villain in the entire "Defenders" saga.
Entremos en materia: esta serie está muy bien escrita. No se pierde ningún dialogo y son ligeramente oscuros yendo a la perfección con la estética de la serie. Mat Murdock está constantemente cuestionando su deber como vigilante y las conversaciones en la iglesia con el cura son geniales. ¿Está bien lo que hace Daredevil? El se da cuenta de que esta lastimando a mucha gente, y aunque estas personas solo causan el mal a donde quiera que van. Esto coloca a nuestro protagonista en un delgada línea entre el bien y el mal. Y el cuestionarse este no es lo único difícil dado que el sacrificio de Murdock va mas allá de lastimarse peleando. El lleva el peso de su ciudad sobre los hombros y no puede tener una vida normal gracias a sus responsabilidades como vigilante.
Let's get down to business: this series is very well written. No dialogue is lost and they are slightly dark, going perfectly with the aesthetics of the series. Mat Murdock is constantly questioning his duty as a vigilante and the conversations in the church with the priest are great. Is what Daredevil is doing okay? He realizes that he is hurting a lot of people, and even though these people just cause harm wherever he wants them to go. This places our protagonist on a fine line between good and evil. And questioning this isn't the only difficult thing given that Murdock's sacrifice goes beyond hurting himself fighting. He carries the weight of his city on his shoulders and cannot have a normal life thanks to his responsibilities as a vigilante.
Esto es algo que amo de esta serie. El prota se cuestiona constantemente sus decisiones y su camino como héroe está lleno de dudas e inseguridades. ¿Esta haciendo lo correcto? ¿Es el a caso diferente a la gente que combate? ¿Ante los ojos de dios, el es un pecador o un mártir? No muchos súper héroes se discuten este tipo de cosas. En la trilogía de Spider-man de Sam Raimy, Peter se cuestiona ser un súper héroe ya que pone en peligro la vida de las personas que ama, no si está bien lo que hace ante los ojos de un dios. Y todo esto se pone mejor todavía dado que siendo cristiano, Murdock eventualmente llega a ser conocido como el demonio de Hellskitchen vistiéndose de rojo y luciendo cuernos en su famoso traje haciendo patente esta dualidad interesante entre el bien y el mal. Y como si esto no fuera suficiente para llevar un buen drama de crimen, esta serie está llena de acción y la acción es INCREIBLE. Hay coreografías geniales con un trabajo de cámara impecable. Peleas que suceden en una toma en la que se rompen puertas, hacen piruetas y la cámara pasa por entre los actores... Wow, no me imagino la cantidad de practica necesaria para esos momentos pero valió la pena por completo y podemos ver una de estas icónicas peleas en el capítulo 2 que de hecho es uno de mis episodios favoritos y gracias al que quede enganchado con esta serie. Aquí el tiene que luchar contra un equipo de matones para rescatar a un infante que fue secuestrado.
This is something I love about this series. The protagonist constantly questions his decisions and his path as a hero is full of doubts and insecurities. Are you doing the right thing? Is the case different from the people he fights? In the eyes of God, is he a sinner or a martyr? Not many super heroes discuss this kind of thing. In Sam Raimy's Spider-man trilogy, Peter questions being a super hero since he endangers the lives of the people he loves, not if he's okay with what he's doing in the eyes of a god. And all of this gets even better since being a Christian, Murdock eventually becomes known as the demon of Hellskitchen by dressing in red and sporting horns on his famous costume making this interesting duality between good and evil apparent. And as if that wasn't enough to make for a good crime drama, this series is action-packed and the action is AMAZING. There are great choreographies with impeccable camera work. Fights that happen in a shot where doors are broken, they do somersaults and the camera goes between the actors... Wow, I can't imagine the amount of practice needed for those moments but it was totally worth it and we get to see one of these iconic fights in chapter 2 which is actually one of my favorite episodes and thank you for being hooked on this series. Here he has to fight against a team of thugs to rescue an infant who was kidnapped.
Otra aspecto importante de esta serie es que se toman el tiempo para profundizar en los personajes. A lo largo de toda la temporada vemos tanto la infancia como la vida adulta de Murdock y entendemos de donde viene, el porqué las decisiones que toma y lo vemos a profundidad. Pero no solo a él. Aplaudo que esta serie también nos haya brindado un viaje a los orígenes del villano principal que es Kingpin. También vemos su infancia, de manera que entendemos el porqué se tornó hacia la violencia para conseguir sus objetivos. Y aparte vemos una relación amorosa que va en paralelo con su ascenso al poder y su lucha contra Daredevil. De manera que no es solo un villano y ya, es un ser humano con virtudes y carencias, una persona con la que nos podemos sentirnos identificados. Y si la frase "un héroe es tan grande como su villano" es cierta, este es uno de los mejores ejemplos que he podido encontrar.
Another important aspect of this series is that they take the time to delve into the characters. Throughout the entire season we see both Murdock's childhood and adult life and we understand where he comes from, why the decisions he makes and we see it in depth. But not only him. I applaud that this series has also given us a trip to the origins of the main villain that is the Kingpin. We also see his childhood, so we understand why he turned to violence to achieve his goals. And apart we see a love relationship that goes in parallel with his rise to power and his fight against Daredevil. So he is not just a villain and already, he is a human being with virtues and shortcomings, a person with whom we can feel identified. And if the phrase "a hero is only as great as his villain" is true, this is one of the best examples I've been able to find.
Habiendo dicho todo esto quería hacer un segmento para hablar de lo que no me gustó de esta serie pero no encontré nada. La temporada comienza muy bien, se desarrolla muy bien y termina por lo alto. Si no han visto este "master pice" va siendo momento muchachos! Es de lo mejor que ha hecho Marvel hasta la fecha, en mi humilde opinion.
Having said all this I wanted to do a segment to talk about what I didn't like about this series but I couldn't find anything. The season starts very well, develops very well and ends on a high note. If you haven't seen this "master pice" it's about time guys! It's the best thing Marvel has done to date, in my humble opinion.
