DreemPort Sublime Staff Challenge Freewrite Prompt

Wednesday evening in the twilight of Christmas and New year. A snowstorm shot flakes of snow at the window pane. Sheltered behind the glass, a flame cast orange glow to the only other resident perched by the window.

She sat on a cushion with her knees to her chest, and her arms wrapped around her legs, even as she grasped a hot cup of cocoa. She sat in a dreemy dreem and stared out to the darkness camouflaged up by a blanket of snow.

It was a beautiful view. The earth of yesterday was covered with snow, and the earth was as white as any new page. Unfortunately, there will never be a new page since the last chapter was written and closed last Christmas. There will never be a new page because It brings back memories, only if her wish for amnesia would be granted.

It was just like this last year when the snow came as heaven's sunlit glitter. Little Annie was outside the lawn in her short skirt skating happily. She wore mittens and a red knitted cap below which her blond hair lifted when she turned... she still remembers the smile.

It was the first Christmas without John her beloved, but she was happy that Charlie her only fruit had come with his family to make the holidays special. If only they had listened and not decided to drive back in the snow storm. Damn that call! Damn his boss! Damn everything! She cursed.

Now she sits on the cushion with her knees to her chest, teardrops forming in her eye. Her arms wrapped around her legs grasping a once hot cup of cocoa.

She stared out to the darkness and in her dreemy dream, wished she would just return to the soil and her spirit will once again reunite with her loved ones.

Oh my goodness I have a lump in my throat 😭This is poignant and gutwrenching. Such loss is incalculable.

grasping a once hot cup of cocoa

I think when deep sadness grips us like this, we get completely lost ...and even the cup of cocoa becomes a mere token to occupy our hands, whilst our hearts are busy crying. !PIZZA !ALIVE

Indeed such loss is incalculable and imagine having to see another season that brings back such memories.

Am glad you can relate to what she was passing through.. It was really a tough moment for her.. I bet there isn't a way she would forget such loss in a hurry especially whenever that particular season surfaces..

This is every shade of sadness. I can't imagine what this year would have been for her having to go through so much loss.

I hope her spirit doesn't grant her wish cos the once hot cocoa will be all over the floor and no one might know she's gone because I'm sure she already is a loner.

I bet it must have been one hell of a year for her.. She is already thinking about death... But why won't she?.. After everything she must have passed through...

I also hope her wish doesn't come true.. Hoping someone would come to her aid.

I know how it feels to celebrate Christmas without the person you used to celebrate it with , John absence created a hole in her heart that moment but there's nothing she can do. But to think about the memories they shared together.

It was indeed a nice story line, I came across your post through @dreemport
