Afghanistan: the Taliban impose the burqa again

In Afghanistan, women in public will have to wear the burqa. And so, after the closure of the schools, the ban on going to work and traveling alone, this too came.
With a decree, the supreme leader of the Taliban, Hibatullah Akhundzada, imposed the new measure because, according to him, the burqa is traditional and respectful.
In the decree, it is argued that the measure was introduced to avoid provocations when you meet men who are not mahram (close adult male relatives of the woman in question). However, for the Taliban "unless women have important work to do outside the home, it is better if they stay at home."
According to the decree, if a woman does not cover her face outside the home, her father or a close male relative, she can be jailed or fired from government jobs.
The traditional Muslim dress, the burqa, is the one that covers the entire body, including the head, leaving only a slit or window, sometimes veiled, at eye level that allows, badly, to see.

When the Taliban took again control of Afghanistan in 2021, they had tried to reassure international diplomacy. As regards in particular the rights granted to women over the last twenty years, they had stated that they wanted to make the use of the veil compulsory, but not of the burqa. They also ensured that women would be granted the right to work at the same level as men. Access to education would also be guaranteed for girls, provided that everything was subject to the discipline of shari'a, Islamic law. There were many doubts regarding these promises,in fact, the worst omens promptly came true within a few months, with the situation coming back to where it started.

One thing that had not happened for 20 years, given that the use of the burqa had previously been made mandatory, again by the Taliban regime, from 1996 to 2001. Twenty years of rights and conquests canceled. The Taliban regime is turning back the hands of history: this decision should make the Biden administration reflect, which wanted a disengagement that is proving to be a real failure in all aspects. Honor and solidarity to all Afghan women who continue to fight for their freedom.
