2024 January wrapped up

So, January is done a couple of days ago. I've been wanting to make this post very badly. Problem is, lunar new year is around the corner, my work has been extremely busy that I don't event have the time to take a dump.

However, weekend walk ritual continues. I'm doing this different than last time. How different? Back to pre-covid shit. Going out whilst its dark. I really dont like the idea of bumping into other parkers.

Well, life is like that. If I can't fight them, might as well turn my face away and pretend everythings is okay. Get to the park before other parkers is there. More than that, less car in the morning meaning air is more settle.

But ofcourse, there's downside also. The country isn't exactly safe, especially with the current economy situation. With lesser crowd, I will be turning my head more than often when I hear sound.

For the first time, I made my goal diced into 365 pieces. And the first month proven to be a 85% success. Why would I call it success still? Well, that's the point. I successfully make this "manageable".

OneL my biggest problem from the past being, I kinda screwed myself by making me to stick to a plan that i can't. And once I broken something, I kinda lose it and the goal become something unachieveable.

Losing weight for example. I kinda set a huge promise to myself at the beginning of the year. I will stuck with it for awhile, one of the day when I slipped, then i will feel the goal screwed.

And then one day after another, I will see the goal getting further, and further, and further away. I will slipped even more until I find no further urge to continue anymore and tell myself screw it.

That's how I fall off the wagon over, and over, and over again. Fortunately, this year I've changed my approach. As at now, i know i aint perfect. Instead of annual goal, i gave myself a daily achievable goals, so i can "check in" everyday.

Taking median weight of the week isn't really that hard to achieve. All i need to do is remember to stand on the weighing scale everyday, make a note of it. Towards the weekend, take the middle weight between the highest and the lowest, that will be my reference weight for the next week.

The highest weight i got was 81.2kg on the nee year day, the lowest i got in the month being 78.9kg. I know I can do better than that, as i have previously lose 10kg in a month.

What's good if i lose it fast and gain everything back even faster, and more than my original weight. Ideally, I want something more sustainable. With the minor adjustment, i will be able to track my progress and NOT drastically changing my diet or lifestyle.

As for my push-up routine, I'm pretty much on point. 20 push up a day isn't really that hard to achieve. I slipped a total of 4 times in the entire month mostly due to work and busy schedule when i reach home late.

Since this is NOT a challenge, it become part of my lifestyle. I will want to do it instead of taking it as a chore. Since i got 5 minutes for a set of 20 push up, naturally i want to do it slower. With the extra time under tension, i actually feeling my shoulders, my chest, my biceps, my triceps more, when i change my palm support position.

My weekend walking distance is improving, and i actually spending longer hours walking since i got up early. I am tempting to make a run, but then I'm more than worry if i change my routine, i will have a bad knee pain and take rest. When i take rest due to knee paint, I tend to fall off the wagon faster than ever.

This is one of those day i forgot to do my push-ups. Its all my fault, as i procrastinating my work. After that went to attend a client's annual dinner, by the time i arrived at home, the day already gone. I still did the push up regardless, but it will be recorded on the next day.

Trust me, i did tried to cheat, thinking i can do another set the same day, but that's how i learn the lesson of "let it go". That was yesterday's psuhup routine, there's no way i can "go back" to yesterday and still do it. A miss is a miss, even if I thought of do a replacement set, somehow the universe found a way to set me up at work with the extra hours stuck in the office.

So, here we go. 1 month down, 11 more to go. With this daily checkin routine, i think i may actailly get some good results towards year end. Oh one more thing, if you have good content and wish to get a free boost, feel free to drop me a link and make sure the post is new and never been voted by #ecency 🙂

making a committment to lose weight is something that is really hard so you shouldn't be so hard on yourself for not seeing immediate results. You seem like a very hard working person and i think that if you just stick with it and don't punish yourself so much for failing every now and then that you will eventually achieve your goals. YOu have a lot to do between your family and job and will probably just have to admit that you are never going to have 6 pack abs again just like most of us as we get older.

But at least you are trying... most people don't even do that!

It's a year long goal, and believe me I already fell off the wagon for the 7 times in 3 months.
