More to learn from my own body
My 2nd weight loss in my life started in 2020 January. Looking back my journal, I've told myself I will get my six pack abs in 2017, and then nothing happen and I change the new year resolution to 2018.
And due to spending more on holidays and travel in 2018, that didn't happen in 2019 either. I've signed up training program for 2020 and kick starty training journey. Guess what, Corona is here and finally I started losing... Hair, and gaining more fat after stopped smoking.
I've been wondering myself why didn't I lose weight? I used to lose 30kg in a year, and this time around everything seems to be stagnant. I did some study to found out as we grow older, our body produce much less human growth hormone. The same amount of exercise we did 10 years ago can burn a lot more calories compare to what we can do it today.
Pardon on the double subway picture. I was going to show you how badly they wrap and I had to rewrap it. Ok. Back to our topic. This two years, I've been watching many YouTube bodybuilders channel, I feel a lot motivated and kind of understand I should just go with light cardio and eating healthier than last time.
Apologize there's no black humour on this piece. I'm just trying to record down where I am and hopefully I will be able to stay strong for my entire lose weight but NOT looking at the weighing scale.
It's so easy to put weight on as we get older, I can attest to that. Now I'm in my 50's I'm fighting a losing battle. I swing between not caring and just enjoying my life and the food and wine that comes it, then beating myself up for being fat and promise myself I'll do better. No solutions here 🤔
Calories in, calories out. There's no absolute solution to lose weight at our age, except calories deficit. Even if I chop a couple of inches off my waist, it will not stop me from continue growing fat, simply because I can't burn as fast as I was younger.
I've been watching this Canadian mad man for some time now, and find it extremely informative. I'm now down to focusing on longer time on simple cardio workout. To put it simple, I do easy cardio for a longer time, rather than intensive workout for a very short time.
I'm still in the part of my life where I can eat whatever I want and never gain anything but I know that the time will come when I have to do this as well.
It will be easier if you already have some baseline muscles built up when your HGH peaked. It's not that when we aged and we stop producing HGH, it's just that after pubic, the amount of HGH produced simply continuously lowering.
Therefore, if you keep a maintenance amount of calories intake(without having too many cheatdays, like 30 days in a month, like me), your body should continue to stay the same way without drastically putting on weight.

Wow, eating healthy is good for you.
Thanks Charles. I'm still "trying" to stay healthy
This is so healthy bro. Non oily and fat. Next time with cereal too bro.
Not exactly the best choice. Perhaps I should go with low fat milk. Perhaps I should reduce carbs. But still, any effort is better than no effort.
chocolate for more longer lasting too. With banana as well.

I forgive you for a humor-less post, that's not the usual Dave 😃. However, I got a chuckle seeing that you rewrapped your Subway sandwich. No matter what, weight gain or not, quitting smoking is by the far the healthiest thing you've done, and even though some weight gain came with it, you've likely added years to your lifespan from this simple but difficult choice.
Thanks for encouraging. Now, I need to do my time management. Apparently I need way more cardio that what's on the "book". Instead of intensive 30 minutes a day, 3 times a week, I need 60 minutes light weight or bodyweight training everyday. In the end, calories in, calories out. No one beat the laws of thermal dynamics
