If not for religion

I have never been a religious guy in my life. There was one point when I was in my teenage years, I accidentally volunteered to become a full time worker in the church due to blindly following a hot girl going out when the pastor called for volunteers 🤣

Other than that one incident during the high school summer camp, I think I didn't really commit much to religion. I was caught smoking by some Sunday school kids, set a super bad example as a bad ass big bro that act differently at the church. It's not that much different actually, there's one time I rearranged "Joy to the world" with a touch of heavy metal, performed it with a full punk dress up and make up at the Christmas service at church and got kicked out of it before we could perform the second verse.

Fast forward to many years later, with many hair fall, I started to scratch my head wondering how religion can affect a person's childhood and possibly their life in the future. My belief is, the guiding principles. It is so much different at the Catholic church when kids are "encouraged" to take part in church matters, rather than enforcing.

I'm not saying my parents are not good. They are just very into what they believed and wanted me to be part of that. Now I have my own kids, their mother is guiding them in terms of their spiritual development. I'm glad they're happy with what they believed and sometimes I do think it's like a magic that I will be able to stop smoking for so many years even after close to 3 decades of addiction.

Put it this way, even if I am not looking at the religious point of view, the guiding principle and discipline of a religion does make a lot of different. I can't imagine what is it like for me to have a cigarette addiction whilst telling my kids smoking is bad for health. In a way, I do think the religious part of me play an important role in changing me so I can lead an example for my kids.

These are the last word I'll ever speak. Now set me free... wait...

Personally, I consider myself religious but not a spiritual person. Anyway, religion is such a complicated topic to discuss. I'm Christian, but I'm not Catholic.

I'm not saying my parents are not good. They are very into what they believed and wanted me to be part of that.

Same my parents are also like that, but in a way that they follow our relatives more.

Generally speaking, a religion believes in Jesus Christ is considered Christian. But you know, although we have different beliefs, it is still important to see the word "respect" in terms of interaction outside the church. I'm not Protestant or Catholic, and I don't want to elaborate more about my religion to promote peace. Anyway, you're welcome!

Understood. I can respect that if you put it that way. Cheers and have a good day.

Nobody is perfect , there are no saints in this world , I think the important thing is that your children have a good example , you do not have to quit smoking , do it when they do not see you it is a way of respecting them , my mother smoked , I have never smoked, it's an individual decision

I've stopped for 3 years now. No intention of getting back on 😊 I don't smoke Infront of them does not mean I wish they smoke behind my back 🤣 so, I rather lead by example.

You're absolutely right. It's a choice. I'm glad your mom still enjoys it.

Catholic church basements were the first place that our band was able to book for performances. The problem is too many kids tried to get in and there was no bouncer.

Some of the best church music I heard was in Haiti.

You look great in the picture. I guess you are starting to eat right and exercise or you just got a good haircut.
