Chillax - my retro Merican restaurant

Our teenage daughter has been busy attending comicon. Since cosplay is her thing, we gotta support at our best so we sent her to the conference and we go for a splurge lunch without her.

We've seen Chillax from other place before, but never got a chance to try this restaurant. So happened that day we saw it whilst we're looking for food, those old Cadillacs seems waiving at us and welcoming us.

The boy is a big fan of cars. With the proper influence from Disney cartoon Cars, we kinda know a thing or two about the food old retro Merican caddy. How can we not take a family photo at our lunch booth? Staff is friendly enough to offer help taking photos.

The good old Elvis and a portion of the car was glued on the wall to give a hint of who own this restaurant.

Food menu wasn't anything more than Merican mexican recipe. We didn't spend too much time deciding what we want since we're regular with TGI and Chilli's.

I had to give the dinning booth a special introduction as it was crafted from a real size caddy. The seating position wasn't really that comfortable, and the weight of the chairs are literally the weight of good old steel body panels.

There are some beautiful quotes framed on the wall. I need to highlight this one as my first impression was, why do we have Freeman in an Elvis themed restaurant? and then... now I know how Mandela effect fcuked my mind.

There's the gas booth beside our car, it's sad that this is an entire mock up version. The scale wasn't accurate, and most of the stuff are not movable. I wish if they have a live size actual gas booth installed here.

I got myself a bowl of mushroom soup, and it was ok. Not too special, but I like it. Put it this way, I expect it to taste "comfortable". Not like I haven't tasted a mushroom soup before. I like my soup creamy, savory, hot enough and have small chunks of mushroom beads for me. This does just that!

As soon as my mint tea served, I was curious about the coaster they used. It's kinda unusual to have plastic coaster served in the restaurant.

And it was a small size vinyl. I'm actually having hard time trying to buy a set of affordable vinyl player. My uncle passed away some 30 years back, I inherited a stack of his vinyl until today they're still in my storage. I really need to get a set of player soon.

Boy asked for a bowl of Mac and cheese which came standard like any Mac and cheese. However, the boy comment was TOO cheesy. I don't get it, aren't Mac and cheese supposed to be cheesy?

He also wanted a chocolate shake, but then they ran out of chocolate. What can I say? Had to settle with vanilla shake, which literally NOT my preference.

The home minister decided she wanted a fajita set, so she can share with me. We got ourselves a combo mix with chicken and beef.

Tortilla was NOT what I'd expect though. It's not that bad, but I just prefer they make fresh ones rather than this feels like got out of microwave. A little dry and tough on the sides.

Overall, we had a blast and enjoying our lunch pretty much, dinning a Merican dream restaurant finally come true.

Now, will have to plan a once in a life time trip to visit the Merica!
