The new norm

Let's not whine about what we can't do. Let's talk about what we can do during this kind of difficult season. This time around I stretch my previous week grocery budget 1 more day. Instead of going to the shopping on Sunday, I tried Monday morning, indeed there's less people there. Marvelous, so I don't need to queue for hours before I am allowed to go in. Note that we're still on social distancing at public places, and therefore they can only allowed maximum 30 customers in the grocery shopping at anyone time. Other than that, will be outside queuing up.

Apparently, this is the reason why there's so much less people coming on Monday, because they came and buy everything else during the weekend. So I ask myself, does the malls only stock up for weekend? They don't stock up for Monday? If that's the case, why would they open on weekdays if they have nothing to sell? Perhaps, I should try Tuesday.

Not much I bought for the week, whatever I can think off, I bought every little bit so we can eat for this week. I don't like to overstock, not because I can't. I simply note that I can stock for a month, but the food will not be fresh anymore. And if each family stock up for a month, what else left for others to purchase? Just like what happened in the shelf. Well, atleast I got myself enough instant coffee! I know it's bad, but it seemed like this is the only thing that can comfort me stuck at home all day.

On my way back from grocery shopping, decided to stop by the nearby restaurant to take away a pack the world heaviest noodle, they call it one ton noodle. It normally very soft and nice to chew. But having this as take away is really not quite appetizing. Take a look at the stash being compressed. The taste is still there, but somehow it just doesn't eat right. I guess we will just have to get used to it.

I have decided, the new norm will be, to change my grocery shopping schedule, may be one of the random day between the weekday, just to be sure the mall has stocked up so I can get my supply. That however, rumour has it our government may uplift the movement control by next week. In view of the present situation, things can go really bad when the second wave happen. I'm not being negative, but imagine bunch of these humans being stuck at home for a long time, when social unlock, these idiots is going to go all out and kiss each others. Really not looking foward on the reopening and spoil my new norm so soon.

Stores in the US tend to restock on Monday. That means that Sunday and Monday morning are the worst times to shop. I am surprised that you are seeing empty shelves.

Food production was supposed to be considered an essential good. Who knows, governments may have gone overboard and shut down food production as well. Never underestimate the damage that can be done with a government worker and a clipboard.

Well, that's people's mentality. Any weekend the line can easily grow up to 3 lanes and easily take up to 3 hours of waiting time before able to go in for grocery shopping. And loaf is a precious commodity here. Despite perishable, people are hogging on them like gold. I've seen people filled their trolley with bread, and the mall operator is allowing it.

Thanks for stopping by. Next time I will try some other weekday 😊
