Here is my participation for this week:🌈

On this occasion while strolling through the area of Los Palos Grandes Caracas-Venezuela, part of my hometown, I came across this artistic wonder, a beautiful mural, which the artist who created it called " Road of Memories ", is located right on a wall of the same avenue, representing a before and a now.

Many years ago, after passing through the town of Chacao, we had the chance to meet with a number of curious and corpulent trees called mijaos. The mijao, being a tree of great size and slenderness, baptized the urbanization with the name of "The Palos Grandes".

This small area was generally wooded and lush, where you could see wide dirt roads, and water flowing down the natural course of the creek in the area.

Around the 1950s, society began to demand a different direction for the urban composition of this site. The width of the streets began to be reduced due to the construction of sidewalks, and the appearance of recreational facilities, business buildings and residential spaces for the population of the time began to increase, bringing with it circulation and parking problems that persist to this day, a couple of decades later.


Road of Memories is a nostalgic walk to what The Palos Grandes represented in its time and what it could have become. Currently, the area is an important business hub for the city of Caracas-Venezuela, and a relevant tourist attraction for any new visitor.

I attached the photos I took of the mural so you can appreciate them, I also put a picture of what was this avenue before and how it is today, I also leave the most orderly information of what I could investigate it.

ROAD OF MEMORIES


By telling our story we blur death and give life to memory, noticing a space of the past, always present. It is a street in 1929, it is a landscape that touches the soul.

The Palos Grandes weaves in every corner a green poetry, a smell of ripe mangoes and a dance of mijaos, which gives its name to this urbanization.

In this avenue, the third, but the first to exist, the sacrosanct of nature unites with the nostalgia and the colors of the macaws, guests of today who, with their daily and punctual chatter, fly and run at their own pace.

It is then the staging of a man-nature-civility encounter and a love for the city that becomes a metaphor.

Les dejo mi participación de esta semana:🌈

En esta ocasión dando un paseo por la zona de los Palos grandes Caracas-Venezuela, parte de mi ciudad natal, me topé con esta maravilla artística, un hermoso mural, el cual el artista que lo creo denomino “Camino de Recuerdos”, está ubicado justo en una pared de la misma avenida, representando un antes y un ahora.

Hace muchos años atrás, luego de pasar el pueblo de Chacao, teníamos la posibilidad de encontrarnos con una cantidad de curiosos y corpulentos arboles denominados los mijaos. El mijao al ser un árbol de gran tamaño y esbeltez bautizo a la urbanización con el nombre de “Los Palos Grandes”.

Este pequeño sector en términos generales era arbolado y de abundante frondosidad, donde podías apreciar amplias caminerías de tierra, y agua bajando por el rumbo natural de la quebrada de la zona.

Alrededor de los años 50 la sociedad empezó a exigir un rumbo diferente para la composición urbana de este sitio. Se empezaron a reducir el ancho de las calles debido a la construcción de aceras, y se empezó a acrecentar la aparición de locales recreacionales, edificaciones empresariales y espacios residenciales para la población del momento, trayendo consigo problemas de circulación y estacionamiento que persisten hasta el día de hoy, un par de décadas después.

Camino de Recuerdos, es un paseo nostálgico a lo que representó los Palos Grandes en su momento y a lo que pudo llegar a ser. Actualmente, la zona constituye un eje empresarial importante para la ciudad de Caracas-Venezuela, y un foco turístico relevante para cualquier nuevo visitante.
