Red Leaves Coming ~ Autumn in Japan

We now return to our tracking of the autumn leaves. Here is where we are now.

Getting closer!

Actually there is still a lot of green, as you can see near the bottom of this photo. But spots that live more in the sun are starting to turn very pleasant colors.

For reference, here is where we were a week ago and then again a few days ago.

By the way, you may have heard about how the Japanese news includes a forecast for the cherry blossoms, where we can watch the line of them moving from the south to the north. Well, they do the same thing for the autumn leaves. It's fun to watch—really builds up the anticipation!

That's just a random map from the web, but the one we see on the news every night isn't too far different, it just includes more detailed dates. I am in Aichi, by the way. I will leave it to you to work out where that is on the map.

It's not often you get to see a Japanese Maple... IN JAPAN. Thanks for sharing and nothing says Fall better than a turning Japanese Maple in my book!
