Sunset city ~ Beauty of Japan
I dream of love as time runs through my hand.
I don't know what that above lyric—which is from "Desert Rose" by Sting—has to do with the photo; it just popped in my head as I was staring at it. It is a great line, anyway, isn't it?
I was thinking of this shot as I posted a similar sunset photo the other day. My city doesn't have many places where you can get a cityscape shot like this, so I used to be glad to enjoy it.
I say used to because it's not as easy to enjoy these days. I took this shot on the edge of a fairly high small mountain. Not long after I took this shot they put a very high chainlink fence along here, preventing people from getting as close to the edge as I did. Probably a good idea—I can easily imagine people accidentally falling and hurting themselves quite badly—but it does prevent me from taking shots like this now.
There's a Zen temple up here and I visit it often. The mountain is in the middle of the city, but it is kind of like a quiet oasis.
This memory of Eden haunts us all
