IAAC Post 233: Banning and unbanning Twitter in Nigeria - Who's fault was it?

Hello and welcome to my alive challenge post.
Being alive in the land of the living means that my creator has need for me. That's my opinion.
Looking at people within my area, I discovered that we have different kinds of people with different feelings on a particular event.
It's too obvious and not even hidden in any way that one's perception which could be positive might be felt as negative by the other person.
That's the basement of every failure of governance, if this exist at the executive level.
In Nigeria, most people are very tired and angry, very annoyed and vexed by the way the government is doing their thing.
To an extent, it doesn't really benefit the poor mass but to the play makers.
The hearts of many were once hardened six months ago when Twitter Nigeria was banned for reason best known by the ruling government.
Just about 21 hours before the publication of this article, the ban was lifted, paving way for the paused businesses to resume.
Yeah, it's a nice development which will definitely affect the citizens positively, but why was it banned at first?
Was it because of the citizens or the government's opinion and interest?
Why was it reopened since they were not conforming to the regulatory agencies?
At last, we rejoice for what was taken from us has returned to us broken.
Yes, broken.
Some persons loss their jobs, careers, accounts to VPN hack, hubbies and many more.
In fact, it crippled the finances of some SMEs that have their major source of income based on Twitter.
Yet, we rejoice at last.
Am alive and thriving, that's all that matters to me.
Nigeria must be better. With or without an elderly leader.
Thanks for reading my story/opinion.

Yes @ddn688 it is tough when governments over reach.
Even here in the UK under democracy we learn our government made us stay in our homes while they had parties without restrictions.
People are not happy.
But like you said We Are Alive

It's very annoying.
These were the same people that begged us for votes.
It's well.
Since there's life, there's hope.
Thanks Ben

Great to hear that you are alive Daniel, and that Twitter is back in your country, I hope many have used Hive instead as that is much harder to block, but also that you will get a government friendly of the people, enjoy your day and stay safe, awesome and alive.

Yes buddy, you asked a nice question: whose fault was it? It is not the fault of the masses. Rather those who think that their views must prevail over those of the masses. Those who believe in the use of state power to score some political point, to throw their weight around, to boss everything that come their way... Anyway, the election is almost around the corner. They need Twitter and other social media to further spread their unsavoury political agenda. I am happy anyway that it is finally over. Just image the speed with which Twitter was banned and technology put in place to effectively restrict it's access in Nigeria and the corresponding speed they also applied to lift the ban; yet they won't apply such alacrity to fix things in Nigeria. What an irony.

Thanks for your post buddy. We are alive and will continue to be no matter what they throw at us, LOL! Our lovely Twitter is finally back.

The government are obviously at fault, this is a democratic nation, and there should be freedom of speech and expression, of which the government deprived us off.

I didn't venture into the use of VPN cause I know and am aware of most of it downside as a computer professional.

Thanks for sharing.

For the past month that Twitter has been banned I wonder also what make to take the step in the first place and it shows that they are knowledgeable and not knowledgeable. That is they think they smart and but reverse is the case.
They stop that because of #endsarsprotest because what happened in October 2020 is first of its kind and never happened before and they know the one voice comes from Twitter which unite us together. So stop that they have to stop that from happening.
Well I hope things go the right way. God bless Nigeria.

Our voices must be heard by hook or sinker.

Hello dear friend @ddn688, Happy to see you alive on the planet. The god gives us good opportunity to live in the world. Currently Nigeria citizens are lucky with unbanned twitter again. Many citizens hope to see good leader to their own states. Unfortunately politicians doing wrost activities against people. With this good decision I believe Nigeria will become better place from economicaly and independantly.

Unfortunately totalitarianism is advanced on the planet in a worrying way. In Europe governments are increasingly undemocratic and mistreat their citizens. We are going back to the 19th century.

Damn!
This is really not unfair

I agree, it would be very good to know the reason for the ban in the first place and also why it was lifted just 23 hours later. However knowing this information would not help those that were impacted nor will it bring back any of the loss that was experienced. Take care.

I am glad you are !ALIVE and well, censorship is the worst thing that can happen to a nation, in my country there is also censorship, they have not messed with the internet, but they have had the intentions, I hope not, the radio stations and TV if they are censored by the government, if any station speaks ill of the government they close it, I hope this will change someday.

Yeah, for national radio and TV stations, they're highly censored. They can't reveal the truth but tell more lies for the government.
The social media is the only way to reveal all of their illegal activities.
Thanks boss for the comment.

The government should understand that you cannot control a person's life especially on social media seeing that most people live a different live there.
Well, I'm grateful they finally realized it and unbanned twitter
