The Opposed, Not Oppressed

If I be mother nature, I would give birth to male children for mothers whose daily prayer and supplication is to give birth to a male child.
My name is Ada, a young lady who got married to one of the richest men is the city.
I got married when I was 18 and as an exchange for my father's loan from the King of our kingdom.
This was a difficult decision for me as I was the first daughter of my mother without a skill to show for.
I struggled to survive as a teenager whose father unintentionally requested for a loan from the king to send me out of the house to a nearby high school to further my education.
While in school at the age of 15, my father tried his utmost best to see that I graduated with a scholarship so as to further my education to the university level.
Guess what?
I messed up his greatest plan of all time.
This pained him so much that he decided to give me away for marriage in order to recover the money either by hook or sinker.
My bride price was enough for him to settle his loan, but was a total slavery for me since my said husband is fifteen years older than I.
I settled in for marriage after the bride price was fully paid, but my mind was traumatized so bad that I hardly behaved like my real self. Everything was done as if I was serving a master whose job is to get rewarded with my services rendered.
My ex-husband was a heartless man with all his steps monitored by those demons along his past. He hardly believes that anyone could make mistake. To be frank with you, he was Mr perfectionist.
My marriage lasted for five years and I never found myself getting close to securing a place in his heart. He took me as part of his properties because, my bride price was measurable to buying himself a beautiful looking lady.
"Maybe, he thought that I was among his good looking cars"

"Five years!"
My mother-in-law shouted very aggressively, and furious to strike a punch on my face, but my ex-husband held her fist.
I cried from a distance as one whose purpose of living just came to its final days.
My ex-husband on the other hand worsened it by giving me a deadline to produce a male child for him or head home to my father's house with my cute girls who have his resemblance.
I felt empty like an empty coca-cola soft drink bottle.
For sure, my ex-husband was supposed to speak for me in the public and not fight against me, even when I seemed to be speechless.

Days upon days, the harassment and nagging grew from strength to strength.
I left the house with my two kids straight to Eddy, my old-time friend for all-round support and he freely offered that to me.
He became my comforter, my strong brick wall, my shadow under the sun and rain, even though he was and still married to Eunice.

In Eddy's house, I was able to raise enough money to pay back my bride's price since I have caused Ernest (my ex) so much pain, disgrace, discomfort, and all the shameful and disgraceful status in the society.
Also, I was able to serve him a divorce letter from my lawyer.

Our marriage hit the rock with both of us not harmed in any way, though I bear the cost of raising my two lovely kids.
Well, I wished him well, but invited karma to choose whether to be good or bad to any of us who deeply offended him.

I strongly believe that whatever that is alive and is being fed with good food must grow. My daughters grew from kids to teenagers enough to stand pageantry hosted by the wife of our lovely president.
Ernest my ex-husband saw them on the Television stampeding other young girls, but had no right to call them his, even as one of the co-hosts.
For sure, they won the first and second positions ahead of others and will soon face the continent in the upcoming Miss Africa.

Truly, success is mine.
I don't really know about Ernest and his new family which I should have more boys than girls, while mine is filled with more reputable girls respected by both sexes.
I am comfortable and satisfied with what I have because, my father handled me like I was the son which he never had and my ex-husband took me as the tree that bears female creatures.

Thanks for reading

I'm glad things worked out in the end, and she didn't have to stay in a loveless marriage!

This is a sad tale, @ddn688, and reflects great ignorance. Not only is the husband cruel to his wife but he is extremely uninformed. The gender of a child is determined by the father. Although a woman bears the child, it is the father's genetic contribution that determines its gender. Your protagonist suffers the fate of women throughout the ages who have been blamed by men for bearing female offspring. Ignorance does indeed know no limits.

It is fortunate that this woman found the strength to leave an unhappy marriage and raise her daughters.

Thank you for sharing this story with us, @ddn688

Your opinion is right.
But considered the fact that Ernest's father-in-law in one way, sold out his daughter in order to pay back his loan.
I don't really blame the man for his actions.
Lastly, we must recognize all genders. No matter what the conditions may look like.
