Lord Of Fire || Splinterlands Art Content Week 198

Hello, Aliens!!!

I'm really happy to share this offering for the #Splinterlands art contest piece with you. I think it's the first sculpture I've ever texture and rendered in Blender before moving it to Photoshop for FX and editing.

Lord of fire (3D LQ).jpg

Unlike my last 3D sculpture for #Splinterlands, I went the little extra mile after deciding to sculpt this instead of painting or drawing it because I felt that my last attempt was a little underwhelming.

I chose Lord of Fire because I haven't done any monster-esque art in a very long while and thought It would be a really cool challenge. Now, I've been watching a lot of Elden Ring content to satisfy my lust to play that game and I really love the asthetics... so I made LOF with that game in mind

Process

I started out by getting myself a 3D Asaro head, pushing and pulling the mesh to block out low-frequency shape before moving to heck and build on it.

I then went in to define the local shape by using the claybuild-up brush. I apply a feature polish to beat back the details from the brush which leave me with a generally smooth facial features. After all the, I use the DamStandard brush to dial in some of the high frequency detail in the wrinkles

The cloth was really difficult to do because my potatoe of a laptop can't run cloth simulation on in to get it to drop successful.

I resorted to partly running a simulation on a low polygon mesh and upping the resolution and using the move brush and nudge brush. I then used the Standard brush to get the fold right and finishing it of with the DamStandard brush for some of the sharper details.

Unfortunely I lost the footage for the armor but I pretty much followed the same process for the head except I extracted the mesh from the shoulders of the head mesh.

I proceeded to decimate mesh (because daddy can't place dense mesh in Blender) and export to Blender as FBX and continued with deffuse texturing setting my lighting and camera.

This is super awesome! I like how you did the glow in the eyes and a few of the creative choices you made to have this character end up being your own. Great work!
