La segunda temporada se estrenó en octubre del año pasado y, por lo que pude leer, parecía que la serie mejoró mucho en esa temporada. Como estaba de humor para un programa de fantasía, decidí darle una oportunidad a Locke & Key y ver si valía la pena verlo.
Una de las cosas que me hizo tener algunas dudas es que ninguno de los 3 personajes principales son adultos, y hasta ahora, la única producción de fantasía disfrutable que se me ocurre donde los personajes principales no son adultos es Harry Potter. Stranger Things y Narnia, por ejemplo, terminaron siendo aburridos para mí.
¿De qué trataba la serie?
La serie trata sobre la familia Locke, principalmente sobre los 3 hermanos. Al comienzo de la serie y luego de una terrible tragedia familiar, la madre decide mudarse a la casa ancestral del padre de los hermanos.
La casa es un poco remota, vieja y enorme. Probablemente muchos niños lo consideren un increíble lugar para jugar, pero los hermanos no están muy contentos con la decisión de cambiar completamente sus vidas y mudarse a este lugar.
Poco después de su llegada, el hermano menor, Bode, comienza a escuchar una voz cuando está cerca de la casa del pozo. Es una voz femenina que parece ser muy amigable y, dada la inocencia de Bode, simplemente encuentra esto muy interesante e intrigante.

The second season was released in October of last year and from what I could read it seemed like the series improved a lot in that season. Since I was in the mood for a fantasy show, I decided to give Locke & Key an opportunity and see if it was worth watching.
One of the things that made me have some doubts is that none of the 3 main characters are adults, and so far, the only enjoyable fantasy production I can think of where the main characters weren't adults is Harry Potter. Stranger Things and Narnia for example ended up being annoying for me.
What was the series about?
The series is about the Locke family, mainly about the 3 siblings. At the beginning of the series and after a terrible family tragedy, the mother decides to move to the ancestreal home of the siblings' father.
The house is a bit remote, old, and huge. It would probably be considered by kids as an amazing playground but the siblings aren't very happy with the decision to completely change their lives and move to this place.
Soon after they arrive, the younger sibling, Bode, begins to hear a voice when he's near the well house. It is a female voice who appears to be very friendly and given Bode's innocence, he simply finds this very cool and intriguing.
The older siblings and the mother don't pay much attention to Bode's when he informs them about this mysterious voice, and this makes Bode feels a bit by himself when it comes to understanding the origin of this voice. It would be impossible for a person to survive down in that place, but somehow there is a woman who appears to live there. Or maybe she is trapped there?
Shrortly after, Bode begins to find cool looking keys around the house because they emit a small whisper only he can hear and eventually he realizes the keys have magical powers.
As the series advance, the 2 older siblings will join Bode in his amazement over the keys' power, and we will also begin to learn more about the nature and the true intentions of the mysterious woman from "lived" in the well.
There are many keys in this house and they have all sort of powers such as changing one's aspect, exploring one's mind as if it was a real physical place. The first key introduced in the series was a key that allows the person to travel between doors anywhere on the planet.
Tanto poder en las llaves obviamente es muy atractivo para seres con malas intenciones, y ciertamente hay un villano malo y cruel en todo esto. La serie no explica todo sobre este mundo mágico oculto, y creo que hay muchas más cosas por descubrir en la segunda temporada, pero proporciona suficiente información para que el espectador pueda disfrutar de la historia.

So much powers in the keys is obviously very attractive for beings with bad intentions, and there is certainly a bad and cruel villain in all of this. The series doesn't explain everything about this hidden magical world, and I believe there are many more things to discover in the second season, but it does provide enough information to allow the viewer to enjoy the story.
These keys can easily be weaponized so protecting them is of upmost importance, but since there are no one teaching the siblings about the keys, they are prone to committing a lot of mistakes and they don't know how to implement proper security measures. However, they will give their best in attempt to do what they consider to be right and responsible.
The magical world presented in this series looks fun enough to continue its exploration in another season. I plan to watch it some time soon, and I am actually a bit excited about it. There are conceptual ideas presented in the first season that weren't explained and I would love to know more about them. Plus, the origin of all we are seeing hasn't been mentioned so far.
This season served as an introduction for both the viewer and the main characters about this magic, and from here, we should begin to join the dots rapidly about many different things.
Main names associated with the series

Locke & Key temporada 1 fue una buena experiencia. Hubo cosas que no me gustaron de los escritores que permitieron que el villano fastidiara fácilmente a los buenos personajes, pero espero que esto cambie en la temporada 2.
Me sorprendieron algunos de los eventos oscuros que tienen lugar porque me preocupaba que fuera un programa muy tonto, pero resultó que valía la pena verlo, y el final tendrá algunos buenos giros que seguramente harán que la serie sea aún más intensa. en la temporada 2.
Puedo decir con confianza que es una buena serie de fantasía con algo de oscuridad incrustada, y el programa tiene todas la pinta de mejorar su calidad. Si te gustan las historias de fantasía ambientadas en el mundo de hoy con algo de magia genial, esta serie podría ser una buena idea.

Emilia Jones plays the middle sibling, Kinsey, she is also a teen, and not much younger than Tyler. She is a bit more rebel than Tyler, but not by much. We can see this actress in CODA, Nuclear, and Brimstone.
Jackson Robert Scott plays the younger sibling, Bode, he is just a kid, is a bit innocent at the beginning of the series, and is also the most open to believing in real magic. This actor also appeared in the 2 recent IT movies, as well as in The Prodigy.
How were the performance from the cast, the scenery and the camera work?
The performances were acceptable for the most part, although there were some scenes where characters deliberately pretend to be distracted in order to allow the villain to gain a position of advantage. This was probably a shortcoming from the writers and not the cast members though.
The scenery was very cool, the main house was huge and is the type of house that can hold many mysteries and secrets. I really love when stories about mysteries use huge old houses to increase the intrigue in the viewers.
The camera work was awesome as well, it improved the intensity of several scenes as well as the looks of many others. When magic is involved, using the right camera angles and movements can make everything much cooler.
Final thoughts
Locke & Key season 1 was a good watch. There were things I didn't like from the writers that allowed the villain to easily screw over the good characters, but hopefully, this will change in season 2.
I was surprised by some of the dark events that take place because I was worried about it being a very silly show but it proved to be worth watching, and the end of it will have some good twists that will surely make the series even more intense in season 2.
I can say with confidence it is a good fantasy series with some darkness embedded into it, and it seems liek the show is improving its quality. If you like fantasy stories set in today's world with some cool magic, then going this series an opportunity might be a good idea.

Esta serie ha llamado mucho mi atención, hiciste una muy buena reseña pues leyendo la sipnosis no atrajo tanto mi atención como al leer tu publicación, no sé si vaya a ver esta serie por falta de tiempo, pero sin dura me dieron ganas de verla.
Entiendo, es necesario priorizar las series y films cuando no tenemos suficiente tiempo. En el caso de esta serie, si te gusta ese tipo de fantasía y aventura sí te recomiendo verla. De lo contrario pienso que sería una serie secundaria.
I've had this show in my list for months. After watching the trailer it just seemed like it would be kind of childish but I guess I was wrong. I'll probably go back and see season one. Maybe, just maybe, the show would impress me.

Im surprised that this is actually my first time hearing about this movie. It sure looks like something I'll enjoy. The magical vibe adds a little something that makes me tingle. Now I'm so eager to watch it.
If I was the one hearing voices I would have thought about it and idea drawn would feel like I'm going crazy but it's pretty great what they did...

yo vi esta serie hace un par de meses, vi el primer capitulo y me llamo la atención, tiene de todo un poco, pero es bastante entretenida, supuestamente este año sale la tercera temporada, habrá q esperar, buena reseña, un gusto leerte, saludos.
Así es, yo también estoy esperando por la tercera temporada y como bien dices, tiene un poco de todo. No es un show infantil y puede perfectamente ser disfrutado por adultos.
Yo me la vi cuando salio y odie varios momentos por lo mismo, según leí y recuerdo, la historia original es del hijo de Sthepen King, es una historia más oscura y sangrienta pero que le hicieron perder ese estilo por alguna razón, los dibujos se ven increíbles, nada cerca a la serie, empece la segunda temporada pero nunca la pude terminar.
Supongo que habrán cambiado la historia para intentar abarcar a más público, pero no puedo comparar porque nunca leí la historia original. Hasta ahora me ha parecido aceptable pero ahora que lo pienso quizás si la historia hubiese sido más oscura la serie pudiera ser incluso más disfrutable. Pero de todas formas pienso que estuvo aceptable. Gracias por la visita!
