Boulders At The Little Gunpowder
I took the following photos on a visit to the Little Gunpowder Falls State Park - Central Area. This part of the park is located on Route 1 at the Baltimore County and Harford County line. I was on the trail on the Baltimore County side.
This was a visit that I did this past December so a lot of the leaves were gone from the trees. As soon as you walk down some steps to get to the trail, you can already see a lot of rocks and boulders by the water and scattered on the hillside across the river.
The trail is very scenic even during this time of the year. Some of the boulders are hidden from sight during the summer months.
I like seeing the moss covered rocks and boulders. The moss, at times, reminds me of a velvety covering. I especially liked the one rock that had a crack in it that looked like a X. The way the moss was growing on some of the cracks was fascinating.
This was another interesting boulder in the river. The boulder kinda' looks like a whale to me!
In this photo you can see the bridge that my husband and I walked under to get to this part of the trail and so that brings me to the end of my post today.
One last look back before leaving! Wishing everyone a beautiful Boulder Sunday! 😊

Such a beautiful place and wonderful post ❤ @deerjay! :-)
You know I love seeing these awesome boulders!!
Thank you for sharing them! Before reading I also thought
that one looks like a whale one direction and looking the
other was a huge birds head lol The other one above it
reminds me of a big cookie with chips! Interesting also
are the ones that look like a circle of boulder in the forest.
Sure different looking from all green to a blanket of leaves
and naked trees! I would so love to play along this river! 💕
Thank you very much @shasta!! I love that others see things as well! It is fun to compare and now that you say it then I see those things also. I've seen boulders and rocks with what look like little cut-outs in them and just wonder if there is more than just water causing such precise marks. I'm sure you've seen them too..just interesting! 😊💞
