Feathered Friends SMAP Contest Entry - Bird Eye

This is my entry for the Feathered Friends - Show Me A Photo Contest Round 36! The theme for this round is "Bird Eye". You can learn more about the contest and how to enter HERE!

My first photo is my entry and features a Black Vulture. I photographed this Black Vulture on a visit to the Conowingo Dam in Harford County, Maryland.

Here is the same Black Vulture from a different angle. I cropped these down just a little bit as I had already cut off parts of this Black Vulture in the original photos so focusing on the eye worked out very nicely for Round 36 of SMAP.

The following are just a few more "bird eye" photos that I found in my collection of bird photos. I photographed this male and female Northern Cardinal while they were at my bird feeder. The Gray Catbird was also at the feeder but the first time I saw a Gray Catbird there it was taking a sweet drink out of the Hummingbird feeder. I've yet to see a Hummingbird using it so the Gray Catbird is welcome to help itself.

The next eyes belong to a few Gulls. I photographed them when I visited the Bynum Run Pond in Bel Air, Maryland. The angle I had of the second photo made the Gulls appear to have only one eye each.

I took my last photo when I was visiting at my mom's house this passed June. I caught several birds in a neighbor's yard. I couldn't even tell what kind of birds they were due to the bright sunlight and how far away they were. Turns out one of those birds was this Grackle. I hope this photo of the Grackle with its piercing eye gives you a laugh like it did me. Sometimes their piercing eyes give them such a sinister look but I don't think this Grackle looks sinister at all and almost seems to have a happy look about him! 😁

Awesome shots Dee!
To be honest, I see the first time ever a vulture's eye so close. This is quite impressive.
You caught all the birds nicely and definetely make me smile with the last photo. 😀

Thanks so much Neli!! I think the Black Vultures are cool looking but they can really mess up your vehicle when you park at the Conowingo. We've been lucky but we also try not to park where they mostly like to congregate. I'm happy that last photo made you smile Neli. With everything going on in the world right now, it is good to have a laugh and smile more. 🙂

Yeah, more laugh and possitive vibes we need. 🙂
I found that it helped me a lot to beat the stress at work especially.

Dee this is a wonderful selection of photos of birds, particularly effective as close ups too. 💜

Thanks so much Angie!! I'm glad I didn't delete a couple of them..lol. It worked out well on focusing on the eye. The Grackles are so funny sometimes. Their eyes either cause them to look sinister or silly. 😁💕

Thank you very much @qwerrie!! Yes, I think "amused" works also. I loved your collection and that was great that you decided to add the Grebe at the end. It is an amazing looking and beautiful bird! 💖

yes, I grabbed so many images of this pair nesting in my local park back in May-2020 and May-2021, that I can never run of different subjects with it.

initially I wanted to provide the manic pigeon's eye as my entry to the contest.... but I understand myself, that pigeon is not as spectacular as the terminator grebe :)

let me treat you with a !PIZZA now. as its lazy sunday!

Thanks so much @qwerrie!! Pigeon's are nice too but I've never seen a Grebe before and it is a really cool looking bird! 💖
