More Lantanas and That Zabulon Skipper In Color
These are the color versions of the Zabulon Skipper butterflies that I wrote a post on a few days ago.
I'll also be showing a few more of the Lantana flowers that they were enjoying. I received the Lantanas as a Mother's Day gift from my daughter and they've added some beautiful sprinkles of color to my front garden. These Lantanas are named Bandana Orange and Bandana Pink.
I noticed a couple of male Zabulon Skipper butterflies drinking some nectar from the flowers while I was trying to photograph another butterfly that was out there. I know that these two Zabulon Skippers were male as the female of this species is a darker color. The second photo below shows a male on a Hosta leaf which is planted right next to the Lantanas.

The Lantana flowers have spread out and produced a lot of blossoms since I received them and planted them in the ground. It is mid September and they are still blooming and providing nectar to butterflies and bees. I have seen just a few ants on them as well but I don't know if the ants are partaking or just find it another plant to crawl and explore on.
I've picked some seeds off of the Lantanas in hopes of growing more next year. I think these may come back but I wouldn't mind planting some other clusters in the gardens.
I love that the butterflies and bees love them too!
I took this next photo after it had rained and there were raindrops still on the Lantana flowers!
Here are my last three photos featuring more Lantanas and the last Zabulon Skipper butterfly photo .. in color! 🙂

Hello @deerjay, These Bandana flowers faster growing in my state especially wet zones. I remember when I was a child I ate small ripe fruit of this plants. Thes e bunches flowers has really impressive looks indeed.
Hi @madushanka and thank you so much!! I read that one can make a jam or jelly with them but I have never tried them. I do love their cheerful color and that the butterflies love them. I think I have a spot picked out to plant a couple more bunches next year and may even look to see if there are other colors to choose from at the nursery. 🙂
Great catch of the Zabulon Skipper butterflies with your beautiful bright flower photos, especially the one of the fluttering wings. Dee, I have never see this kind of butterfly so as usual I learn something regularly from my Hive friends. 🙏
Thanks so much Angie!! They are a very small butterfly and there are also many different kinds of Skippers. They are fast little buggers and usually don't stay long on a flower but I guess they really liked the Lantana nectar. 😉💕
