Nov. 18, 21: Routine, Early Teaching, Errands, Garage Putzing, More Leaf Blowing, and Games

Up at five this morning and just shy of another hour short on sleep. 😢 Have to say that my energy and drive is low, but despite that fact and despite spending some time in VR, I did keep the pace up for the whole day.

Did the usual morning routine and was pleased to see that HIVE is hanging on to a little of its gains still. Cryptos more or less sideways otherwise, maybe a little up. Not too much else going on, still trying to learn about the Model A brakes and got prepped for class.

Ended up running super short on time and only got the bare bones of my post done and scheduled before I had to get ready and go. The drive went smoothly, though, and I was there about twenty minutes early.

We started into parametric equations today and looked at converting back and forth between parametric and rectangular. We also derived (from scratch) the set of parametric equations for a cycloid (a point on a rolling circle)! 🤓 After that we played around with some other parametrics like Lissajous figures and prolate and curtate cycloids.

Grabbed a quick sandwich for lunch and then headed to the bank and into town to run my weekly errands (I get ten percent off for going in on Thursdays, so that’s a bonus!); was empty when I got there, so I got to go straight in with no wait. 😃

After I got back from running into town to the puffity-puff store, I wanted to decompress a bit and so jacked into the Oculus for a little bit. I already beat the campaign on Resist, but there are still some challenges to complete and collectibles to find. The motion does give me wobbly legs from time to time, but I’m a lot better now with the swinging and flying around the city like Spider-Man totally is fun. 😁 It didn’t take too long for me to satisfy my procrastinating urge and I got busy with real world stuff.

Got thrown for a loop when I received an email saying that I was required to fill out a vaccine disclosure form for work…the more I looked at it, though, the more I think it was a phishing email. It originated from outside of the institution, the graphic was sloppy, there was a threat of disciplinary action and was only addressed to me and not the whole faculty as far as I could tell. I tried several different ways to verify the sender’s address, but Outlook will only give me the name. 😡 Too much about it didn’t seem right, though…I mean, if we were required to click a link and fill out a form why would they send it from an address that triggers a warning not to click links?! Right? I should probably report it to IT, but for now I’m just trying to forget it; it’s easier to ask forgiveness than permission.

I did actually accomplish quite a bit, I suppose. After I got back from running into town I got the garbage out and did some stuff around the house. Finally decided to call Mike’s and see if there’s even a possibility to get a new set of brakes for the car and he said he would sell me a set with a core surcharge per wheel since my cores are wrong. The real problem, though, is that the backing plates have been welded to the spindles. Apparently, the spindles are extremely rare. 😱 Looks like my only real option is to try and fix the hydraulics.

After I got off the phone with at least a glimmer of hope-ish, I walked down to the store to get some new batteries for the fire alarm and got those replaced and the alarm put back up and then went out to tackle the blower issue.

I had a feeling that when I failed to start it the other night it was because it was flooded. Let it sit and dry out for a couple days and it fired up just like normal. 👍 The village guys had been through sucking up the leaves 🍁 this morning, which sucked a little cause they would have all been gone, but finished out the job as best I could with the wind working against me.

Did some more staring at the car and trying to figure it out. I think my only real choice is to replace the master cylinder.
It’s pretty badly corroded and appears to be or at least have been leaking. There’s some kind of pump or something wired into the wiring harness. 🤷

They’ve bolted the damn thing under the frame, so it’s more or less impossible to fill the fluid! 🤬

Wenche made us pasta and meat sauce for dinner and we watched some tube. We plowed through the rest of Happy Endings, I guess, so it’s back to hunting for random stuff. Swore at Splinterlands until bedtime and that was it for another day!

Fifty-six equals fifty-seven seems like some solid dShitty math. At least it’s gone up a little, just waiting for the shoe to drop.

Kind of run out of any desire to even be creative about complaining about how much CryptoBrewmaster is a waste of life. Still not giving up on saying it every day, though.

Just been pounding out more of the mission I unlocked in the second area on Rising Star. It’s more or less equivalent to doing the last one in the first area, which was my usual fallback anyway and at least this way, once my level is high enough, I will have done them to unlock the next one.

Splinterlands was nothing short of absolutely fucking rediculous today. 🤬 Lost out all my progress into Gold II and couldn’t get a win for my daily quest let alone a win hardly at all!

Finally got fed up and rage quit for the night dreading the fact that I still had to play in the morning. Played this morning and it wasn’t any better, not in the fucking least, and I rage quit again…time was running short for me to work on today’s post, so I just have to leave it unfinished and way worse off than if I hadn’t played at all.

No daily rewards for today and hardly even any DEC for battling. 😡

SPS has been crashing hard and presale packs are well above eight now. I wasn’t happy paying seven, so there’s no way now, just staked my drop for the day.
