Is Arsenal Making a Comeback?

Arsenal's predicament is like a ball of bundled yarn. The moment you think you have found the right end and you pull on it, the tighter the knots in the yarn become.

It is an unfortunate position to be in because it is the hope that kills. The moment you think the team is on the mend and the club is reemerging, you get a very rude awakening as you watch mediocre performances each week.

Fortunately, in my opinion, it seems that rotten piece of luck could be changing for Arsenal fans.

Signing Ben White.

The recent signing of Ben White has been an interesting addition to Arsenal's ranks. Many rival fans have taken the opportunity to banter the club for the 50 million Euros fee that Brighton demanded. I am one of the few who views it as a shrewd signing. That's what Arsenal need at the moment. A strong defence sets the team up to attack more confidently, which has been a big pain point for Arteta.

It remains to be seen how the manager will change up his playing style and, even more pertinent, the attitude of the squad. Watching Arsenal in the friendlies, I noticed that the team appeared to be closing down their opponents higher up the pitch. However, the same fragility still exists.

Arsenal fans will be hoping that new signings help purge these limitations before the new season begins.

No European competition.

Finishing 8th last season was not entirely a bad thing for Arsenal. Avoiding the new Europa Conference League and Europa League has probably saved the club a lot of struggle in the Premier League. Leicester proved this when they were playing one game a week and went on to win the Premier League title.

Those heights, however, are out of Arsenal's reach. The most they can probably hope for this season is qualifying for the Europa League.

That is not an entirely bad thing. With all the big teams strengthening their starting 11's even further, it will be a huge ask for Mikel Arteta to break into the top 4 even when playing one game a week.

This could be the moment for the under-fire manager to build on his reputation and secure another season managing Arsenal.

Final thoughts

As the transfer window has continued to mature, several teams that finished above Arsenal have really been ambitious in the transfer window.

Arsenal fans will also be weary of teams below them, such as Aston Villa, who have really had an amazing summer window and will be challenging for the Europa League positions this season.

While I am very optimistic on behalf of Arsenal fans, they will hope that the frailties the team has displayed in previous seasons do not arise or else they will find themselves finishing even lower this season.

I don't think so I don't see arsenal making a comeback to a competitive football in premier League by being a premier League title contenders my reason being that they couldn't buy a prominent player to add up to their team

I agree. They won't be challenging for the league any time soon. It remains to be seen how effective they will be without European football. Don't rule them out yet.
