Clase de masa filo. [ESP-ENG]

Good evening, friends at Hive Food! Tonight, I want to share a bit about yesterday's class with you. We learned how to work with phyllo dough; I thought it was fantastic and although it takes some effort, the dough turns out great, and we learned to make some delicious Arabic pastries.

Yesterday’s class involved a good deal of work; as soon as we arrived, we began weighing everything to prepare the dough. Once the dough was ready, we started cutting and stretching it it’s a type of dough that ends up being extremely thin and is made in several layers.

Then we set about assembling the first dessert, layering sheets of dough separated by butter and filled with walnuts and pistachios before baking it.

This first sweet treat we made is called Baklava, and here you can see how it looks fresh out of the oven. As soon as it comes out while it’s still hot a syrup made with rose water is poured over it, making it absolutely delicious.

And this other sweet a type of pastry filled with mozzarella cheese and pastry cream is called Shaabiyat. These were the two desserts we made; although they look quite simple, they actually require a fair amount of effort when it comes to stretching the dough and separating it layer by layer.

We tied, and then enjoyed some desserts, which we paired with black tea. Here, we learn not only about pastry-making but also about other cultures.

What a great class to learn to make your own Phylo dough. Baklava is one of my all-time favorites and I have not had it in many years.
It’s a delicious dessert, honestly; I also started working at a doughnut shop, and I haven’t had time to post anything.
