Hive is so much more

When I joined Hive at first, I saw Hive as just a blogging platform where I could cash out and nothing more. But now, I don’t even know what to say. I know how corny this must sound to you. You’ve heard many people say this over a thousand times here on Hive. I don’t know for sure whether the rest of what I’m about to say will have anything different from what you’ve heard others say, but I bet it will.

Hoping into the Neoxian City discord has been one of the best things to happen to me last year. And I found my way there through Hive, so I guess it all boils down to finding Hive.

The interesting thing about my experience in the Neoxian city is that it’s not even just about Hive there. We’re a family there. Seriously. You need to swing by and see us talk everyday. Most of us have never seen each other, but when we talk, you don’t feel the distance or continental boarders separating us. Myself and a couple of other Ghanaians undertook a donation exercise to an orphanage a few months back on behalf of @neo-care, a project run in the Neoxian city to help underprivileged people.

What I love about the family is that everyone there wants to see the other elevate. For real. We don’t talk useless things all day. If you listen, pay attention and participate, there’s always something new you learn everyday.

For me, one of those new things recently has been Airdrops. Most people found out about the ARB airdrop following some Twitter airdrop hunter. I found out about it from xabi and ude. Mans Dmed me the airdrop link directly. How cool is that? Even though I eventually didn’t qualify for the airdrop when I received it, I still felt like a part of a family knowing that he wanted me to win enough to send me that link.

Lol I think I side tracked from the main idea of this post because I got really excited just talking about this.

In truth, this post was supposed to be about the fact that Hive offers us a direct mouthpiece to actually have conversations with Millionaires.

Every whale here is a millionaire(I stand to be corrected) and I think most people fail to realize that every time you slide in the DMs of one of them, you’re chatting directly with a millionaire. I’m not saying this to intimidate people, but I want to draw our attention to something I think most of us have been missing for a very long time - There’s an African proverb that goes something like “If you’re traveling on a journey, seek directions from people who have already been to the destination you wish to arrive”.

Yesterday, I saw @evernoticethat’s comment on @bradley’s post and he mentioned how not all the whales started out as whales. Most of them have been regular bloggers at one point or another. I read arcange’s post also last week where he was celebrating reaching whale status. He mentioned how he used to struggle just like the rest of us, and how he never gave up. Hamza, where are you heading with this?

The whales are people that have been on the journeys we seek to embark on (or are already on). Take advantage of being on Hive and when you chat with them, ask them for advice. You can just write posts, engage with the community, and cash out if you want, but if you’re someone with ambitions to get where they are or anything like that, they’re right in front of our eyes everyday and you can use that to your advantage.

I haven’t chatted directly with many whales, but Mr Dragon, the whale that I have chatted with, he’s a cool person. Mr Ray (Not sure whether or not he’s a whale, but don’t care because he’s a cool dude too) of Brofi is another cool one, and I believe all the whales we have on Hive are like that too because even though I haven’t talked with them one-on-one, I’ve seen most of them in general chats of some discord servers being cool af.

I think it’s time we realized we could start bugging the whales with questions and seeking their advice regarding hinderances we face in our journeys to the top. The good thing even is that most of them do AMAs (Ask Me Anything), so even if you can’t reach them directly or they’re too busy to reply in the dms, the AMA is a great alternative opportunity to grab a piece of wisdom.

I don’t know how many times I side tracked in this post, but I assume it’s a lot. Still though, I hope more people that need to see this gets the message. Hive is more than a blogging platform. It’s a portal that opens to opportunities you haven’t imagined yet!

Ps: I wrote this post a while back on a night I was overdose on adrenaline and decided to still post in anyways now because why not?

Thank you. Yes this is me and my friends and we’ve banded together in many projects to help the needy through Hive. The most recent outreach we’ve had is a book distribution exercise to primary school kids in our vicinity under a hive-sponsored project called the HiveStudentsHub.

After the adrenaline died down, I wasn’t so sure whether I should post it or not anymore because I wasn’t the same person that wrote it anymore. Lol

You guys are doing a great work over there zoo. The fact you said hive is just not a place to earn but to make friends and families is true because most times when I am here blogging, I love it when I talk with people though I love my earnings too😂.

Yeah we all love the earning, but the interactions here are fun and they connect us and break the distance between us. Earning is an extra bonus🙃. As for this T-shirt, I’ll fly it over to Nigeria for you or will you wait for me to bring it along when I come to Naija?🙂
