Der erste Bitcoin-ETF hat in den USA wie von vielen erwartet grünes Licht bekommen. Bereits ab morgen, dem 19. Oktober, wird der ProShares Bitcoin Strategy ETF unter dem Börsenticker BITO an der New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) zu handeln sein. ProShares feiert den Start als „Meilenstein für Bitcoin ETFs“.

„BITO bietet Anlegern die Möglichkeit, bequem über ein Maklerkonto an Bitcoin-Renditen zu partizipieren. BITO kann wie eine Aktie gekauft und verkauft werden und macht ein Konto bei einer Kryptowährungsbörse und eine Krypto-Wallet überflüssig“, verspricht das Unternehmen ProShares

In den USA sind solche Finanzprodukte rund um BTC neu, in Europa hat man ähnliche Investmentmöglichkeiten bereits gesehen. An der Wiener Börse etwa können Investoren via so genannter ETPs (Exchange Traded Products) in Bitcoin oder Ether investieren.

Eingefleischte Krypto-Enthusiasten werden kaum einen ETF brauchen, um in das Asset zu investieren – doch gerade für jene Menschen, die bisher Berührungsängste hatten und sich kein Konto bei einer Krypto-Börse zulegen und stattdessen über ihr bestehendes Börsenkonto investieren wollen, ist BITO durchaus interessant.

Für Menschen, die den Spruch „not your keys, not your coins“ ernst nehmen, ist der ETF wohl nichts.

ProShares will mit Einfachheit und reguliertem Betrieb punkten.

„Wir glauben, dass eine Vielzahl von Anlegern sehnsüchtig auf die Einführung eines Bitcoin-gebundenen ETFs gewartet hat, nachdem jahrelang versucht wurde, einen solchen aufzulegen“ , so Michael L. Sapir, CEO von ProShares.
