GET TO WORK: DON'T GET COMFORTABLE NEWBIE!
I want to take this time not just to share my very short experience on Hive but also to encourage Newbies (like myself). In a way, I am also encouraging me.
In the Discord meeting yesterday (which was unfortunately cut short because of internet problems), someone mentioned something that caught my attention.
YOU'RE A NEWBIE, OWN IT.
As a newbie, it won't be easy. Just take it you're interning at a world renowned corp. You need to gain the recognition of your leaders. I loved that the person brought it up because, i felt i was too lucky.
Whenever i scroll through most Newbies post, I see very low upvotes. And i end up reblogging because it breaks my heart. I don't know how but i somehow manage to get good upvotes and i feel maybe i should share with fellow Newbies a few things that may help.
DO NOT COMPARE...
As a newbie, avoid trying to compare your earnings with people who have been here for the longest time. You'd end up doing yourself more harm than good. Don't overthink such things. Also, do not try to compete with fellow Newbies. We should be helping and supporting instead of competing.
DON'T BE SILENT: SPEAK
If you go through a post and find certain things confusing, make a comment. Ask and reach out to people. This is the most reliable way to get more out of Hive while voicing concerns. Don't suffer in silence, you don't have to be scared of being annoying. On Hive, YOU NEED TO BE ANNOYING!
No one would judge you for being less knowledgeable, not on this space. I have to say a big thank you to all those oldies and uppers here who don't hesitate to lend a hand to a drowning Noob. You guys are the best.
It is better to be a fool for ten minutes than a fool for life. So, don't think, "if i ask now, i may be seen as annoying or desperate or stupid"
Some would just go ahead and google and while that is a fantastic idea, Google does not know who you are. They may end up giving more complicated articles that has you twisting your face in the most comical way. However, over here, they see your passion to learn and they help you.
ENGAGE...
My mentor said something that brought pride to my heart. He said, when he scrolls through posts and comments and sees my comments, he feels really good. Also @samostically said, "you're everywhere". LOL. At that time, i felt a pang in my chest because i thought, "oh no, am i doing too much?" I apologized and then mellowed in engagement. But then i later saw how stupid that was because The Newbies Initiative made me understand the importance of engagement. I immediately shot up on an engagement spree; upvoting, commenting, reblogging, commenting again, exploring nonstop.
Just incase you're stuck on how to meet new people, @heyhaveyamet is a very good space for that. I always look forward to their post. Good job they are doing there.
Join contests and follow Discord links.
DON'T GET TOO SERIOUS...
While it is good to take Hive seriously, don't get too serious. Some have subjected themselves to writing about things they have no passion about just because of the earnings. Profit is a must on Hive but what difference does it make when you grumble?
Have fun. I'm not saying you should limit yourself, you can have fun while posting finance or any other thing. It doesn't always have to be hectic. @pappyelblanco mentioned how he'd start blogging about what he likes rather than what he is expected to. This way you also ease the burden of being creative. When you feel like you have nothing to blog about, look at new angles. My angle is the oldies. I go through their blogs and get inspiration. Sometimes, i purposely chat them up and somehow, i get new content from those fun chats. Also, look for contests. When worst comes to worst i just hunt for contest.
KEEP THE SPIRIT GOING...
I'm almost two months on Hive and i have been blogging daily. My mentor advised me to blog daily for three months so it becomes a habit. I'm not there yet but i can't go a day without writing on this platform.
KNOW YOUR TIME FRAME...
Be professional. This is a point i just learned recently from my mentor. Don't just post anytime you like. Select a time, for example you may decide that by 8am-10am your blog is up or 12pm-3pm or even 7pm-11pm. This helps people find you easily because they have an idea of when you blog. To get a good grasp on your time frame, know your audience and their time frame. Who are the people following you? What country are they in?
DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT GET COMFORTABLE...
Heh. Don't get comfortable being at one place. You need to grow if you want to give back on this platform. Only profit minded people would be okay with staying put and not exploring. Hive is too big of a world to not explore.

I am almost two months on hive. I have gained about 61 followers which exceeded my expectations and I am about to get to 100HP. Little by little I am growing and learning.
Also, i was whipped bitterly on Splinterland the day before yesterday and @pappyelblanco got a good laugh at my expense😒.

Lol... You've already experienced alot on Hive and this is something that will surely be useful to other Newbies. Funny enough, I believe that those that have been here longer than you also need to have these in their fingertips and put it to work.

That " don't compare" you mentioned is like you said that one for me. I tend to compare my progress with other newbies, and though I'm not jealous it feels like I'm slacking, so I tend to use them as motivation . But to be honest you're everywhere. Keep up the good work
